Edward ‘Ed’ Joseph Kubiak
“And on the eighth day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, “I need a caretaker.” So, God made a farmer.
Edward (Ed) Joseph Kubiak of Webberville peacefully left his fields on earth to tend to the fields in heaven on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 82 years old while surrounded by his family. Ed was born on October 7, 1937 in Wayne, MI to Joseph and Hattie Kubiak. He was preceded in death by his parents, five siblings, and their spouses, Penny Zvanciuk and daughter Joanne Pidd whom was the light of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joan, along with their children: Edward Kubiak, Joy (Todd) Hull, Janet (Mike) Wilson, Joe (Brandy) Kubiak, Mike (Tina) Kubiak, John Pidd, Elizabeth (Dan) Stiffler, as well as his many grandkids; Ashlei (Ryan) VanSickler, Travis Kubiak, Kelsei (Lyle) Young, Paige Wilson, Michael Wilson, Caleb Kubiak, Maci Kubiak, Austin Stiffler, Gavin Kubiak, Abby Stiffler, Ally Stiffler, Jesse Pidd, and great-grandkids Hunter and Haiden VanSickler, and Adlee and Gradee Young.
Ed lived his life serving people. He started farming at a young age in Wayne and moved to Webberville in 1963 where he continued to grow his empire. Whether he was tending to the cows or working in the fields, he always made time to cruise around in his white pickup truck to check on his people. You could often catch him driving to their doorstep and honking the horn until someone appeared. If you were brave enough to get in the truck, you knew you may not return home until dark; but you would return with a full belly and a smile. Ed enjoyed visits from his kids, grandkids, and friends. Anyone that walked in his door was welcome to a seat at his table, and when you left he ended the visit with a “drive safe, watch for deer.” He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Services were held at the home farm located at 4965 E Sherwood Rd, Webberville. Visitation was on Monday, August 31 from 2-4 PM, 6-8 PM and Tuesday, September 1 from 10-11 AM. Funeral services were held Tuesday, September 1 at 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Webberville FFA or Residential Hospice. Arrangements entrusted to Herrmann Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at pjherrmannfuneralhome.com
