Fowlerville seniors to hold Gauntlet on June 2 following graduation practice
On Friday, June 2, all graduating seniors will meet at the Fowlerville High School for graduation practice. Directly following practice, all grads will pick up their cap and gowns, put them on and line up for the Gauntlet. The students will then walk through the high school for one last goodbye to staff and students. Grads will walk to the junior high to parade through their halls.
We would like to invite parents and any other family and friends to come up and join in the celebration. You can make signs, wave, clap etc. All parents must park in the bus parking lot between the High School and Junior High. Please respect that the high school is still conducting classes, and wait in the parking lot until the Gauntlet begins. We will have someone in the parking lot directing you as to where to stand.
Unfortunately, we only have an estimate as to when practice will be over and the Gauntlet will begin. We are estimating beginning the walk to the Junior High around 10:15 a.m., but you may want to come early just in case practice goes quickly.

National Poppy Day – Friday, May 26
The American Legion Family is launching National Poppy Day, Friday, May 26, as a way to honor U.S. service members from the battlefields of France in WWI, a century ago, to today’s global war on terrorism.
After WWI, the poppy flourished in Europe and quickly became a symbol of the sacrifices made by Americans and allied service members around the world. Soldiers returning from WWI brought home the flowers in memory of the barren landscape transformed by the sudden growth of wild red poppies among the newly dug graves – unforgettably described in a memorial poem by Canadian Lt. Col. John McCrae:
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders Fields.
National Poppy Day broadens a tradition that dates back to the early 1920’s when the red poppy was adopted as the American Legion Family’s memorial flower. Today, it remains an iconic symbol of honor for the sacrifice of our veterans. ALA members distribute millions of poppies annually across the country in exchange for donations that go directly to assist disabled and hospitalized veterans in our communities.
All Americans are encouraged to wear or display poppies on National Poppy Day in memory of the fallen and to honor those who have fought for freedom. In Fowlerville, poppies will be available in the community on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, May 25, 26 and 27. Watch for the auxiliary representatives. Please proudly wear your poppy to your local Memorial Parade and to Memorial Day events.

Community-Wide Women’s Bible Study begins in June at Wellness Center
The new Beth Moore Bible Study entitled Entrusted: A Study of II Timothy will again be offered at the Family Impact Wellness Center (9430 W. Grand River in Fowlerville). This time, there are two options: Monday mornings at 9:00 beginning on June 12th and Tuesday evenings at 6:15 beginning on June 13th. This 6-session class will run consecutively except for a break in the middle for July 3 and 4.
With her combination video teaching/discussion format, Beth will encourage us to both guard what God has entrusted to us and to pour into future generations just as Paul did when he mentored Timothy. As she stated, “In this journey of joy and hardship, we need each other to stay the course and live a life of faithfulness.”
A listening guide/ workbook for both note-taking and homework accompanies the course. These books are $14 each, and scholarships are available. For more information or to register, please call Barb at 517-223-4428.
