John Allen Eisenhauer
1946 - 2019
John Allen Eisenhauer, son of the late Jack and Marion (Gray) Eisenhauer, was born September 16, 1946, in Port Huron, Michigan. On April 18, 2019, John went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He was 72 years, 7 months, and 2 days of age. John married Phyllis Walburg on October 30, 1988, in Traverse City, Michigan. He was a longtime Howell resident.
He was a man who never met a stranger. He loved to talk about anything and everything, but mainly his love for the Lord. John loved his wife and family dearly. He instilled the importance of hard work and following God in his children and grandchildren. He, like his Father, was the person you would go to if you needed prayer.
John could wheel and deal with the best of them. He was a charmer. He loved to tinker and could fix just about anything. Some of his favorite things were barbecuing and perfecting popcorn.  John left a legacy of love that those who knew him will cherish and carry with them. We can find peace and comfort knowing that he is now safe at home with Jesus.
Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by one grandson, Aaron DeVries.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Phyllis; four sons, Gary Eisenhauer and his wife, Elisa, of Las Vegas, Nevada, Daniel Eisenhauer and his wife, Sandy, of Oak Hills, California, Glen Eisenhauer and his wife, Charmi, of Kingsley, Michigan, and John D. Eisenhauer and his wife, Andrea, of Tucson, Arizona; two daughters, Melanie Kopacz and her husband, John, of Mtn. House, California, and Gwen Stokes of Kingsley, Michigan; five step-children that he loved as his own,  Butch DeVries and his wife, Deb, of Charlevoix, Michigan, LuAnn DeKraker of Big Piney, Wyoming, Sherri Northrup and her husband, Gerry, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Barb Lashmit and her husband, John, of Charlevoix, Michigan, and Kathie Sprague and her husband, Rick, of Charlevoix, Michigan; one brother, Frank Eisenhauer of Modesto, Illinois; two sisters, Marianne Porter of Greenville, Tennessee, and Vicki Nichols and her husband, Donald, of Howell, Michigan; twenty-nine grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Wehr Ford, their church families and friends for their help and support during this difficult time.
Memorial services for John were held this past Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Faith Community Church of the Nazarene in Mountain Grove, Missouri, with Pastor Josh Griffith officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Faith Community Church of the Nazarene in care of the funeral home. Services are under the direction and care of Craig-Hurtt Funeral Home. The family is planning a Celebration of Life for John in Northern Michigan in June of this year.    Bob’s children extend their heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff members at WellBridge of Brighton for the exemplary care provided. Deepest gratitude goes to the St. Joseph Mercy Hospice team, and the support and camaraderie of the Livingston County Veterans’ Council has always been phenomenal. To all those friends and relatives who took time, from your busy lives, to stop in and visit him, your smiles and presence was a wonderful gift!
His children would appreciate and welcome your prayers. Consideration for memorial contributions, in his memory, may be made to Antrim Baptist Church (4509 Lovejoy Road, Byron, MI 48418) or “Always Hope Animal Rescue” (alwayshopeanimalrescue.org) or your own house of worship.
May God bless us all and grant renewed strength and continued peace in our hearts (1 Corinthians 15:51-57 NIV).

Local groups sponsoring free showing of climate change film
Three local groups are joining together to sponsor a showing of an important new film on climate change in observance of Earth Day.
From Paris to Pittsburgh, which highlights how state and local entities are taking action against climate change, will be shown on Monday, April 22, at the Community Unitarian Universalists in Brighton, 3333 S. Old 23, Brighton.
The showing is sponsored by the Livingston County Democratic Party, CUUB’s Social Justice Team, and the Sierra Club Crossroads Group.
From Paris to Pittsburgh is a new National Geographic film produced by RadicalMedia together with Bloomberg Philanthropies. Prompted by Donald Trump’s decision to remove the U.S. from the Paris climate accords, the film highlights local, private sector, and community leaders across the country who are continuing to work to reach the Paris goals despite federal inaction.
The film takes its name from President Trump’s comment that he was pulling out of the Paris agreement because he was elected to represent the people of Pittsburgh, not Paris, prompting Pittsburgh Mayor William Peduto to respond: “I can assure you that we will follow the guidelines of the Paris Agreement for our people, our economy, and future.”
From Paris to Pittsburgh demonstrates that being green can be bipartisan as U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa is interviewed about the impact of wind energy on the job market in Iowa.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the showing at 7 p.m. A discussion will follow. Free-will donations will be accepted.

Please remember the Historic Village as you downsize, organize, minimize, streamline, and clean out your homes:  closets, cupboards, basements, attics, garages, sheds, and storage units.
As always, new faces are always welcome--- fresh ideas are valuable in setting up for a most successful event.  Continue to watch your Fowlerville News & Views for additional details.
