Fowlerville area churches unite for National Day of Prayer on May 4
As a sign of unity and a sign in trust of God, local congregations in the Fowlerville area will join together to pray “for our community, our nation and the world” during the National Day of Prayer. This event will take place on Thursday, May 4.
Interested participants may gather at 11:45 a.m. the municipal parking lot on Grand River Avenue, just west of the retail district. The event will last approximately thirty minutes, and attendees will be united with National Day of Prayer activities taking place across the United States of America at that same time.
“Many Christians are unaware that we live in a nation that has a law in place requiring that the President proclaim a National Day of Prayer each year on the first Thursday in May,” noted Pastor Diane Bareis Greble of St. John’s Lutheran Church.
“It read ‘The President shall issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals (Public Law 105-225)’,” she added.
“As citizens and residents of the United States and as believers in Christ Jesus, we not only have a spiritual responsibility according to 1 Timothy 2:1-2 to pray, but a civic duty as well to heed our President’s call to stand in the gap for our nation,” said Pastor Greble. “We will pray for peace, for recovery from addiction, for local, state and federal officials, for our neighbors and for conflict around the world that lead to division and animosity.”
The theme this year is For Your Great Name’s Sake! Hear Us... Forgive Us...Heal Us! The verse comes from Daniel 9:19, which says, “O Lord, Listen! O Lord, Forgive! O Lord, Hear and Act! For Your Sake, O My God....”
Among the congregations participating are Fowlerville Nazarene Church, St. John's Lutheran Church, Fowlerville United Methodist Church, Marr Bible Church, Fowlerville UB Church, Place of Refuge, Fowlerville Baptist Church and any other congregations and individuals that desire to join in this time of eccumenical prayer. If you have any questions you may contact St. John's Lutheran Church at 517-223-9108.

God saw he was getting tired
And a cure was not to be.
So He put his arms around him,
And whispered, come with me.
With tearful eyes,
We saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest
God broke our hearts to prove to Us.
He only takes the BEST.
