 Albert “Mike” Stock

Mike Stock held many titles. He was a brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, mentor, and to all a friend. He was so loved by his family and friends, and he did not die alone because that is not the way he lived his life. He spent his final hours the night of September 16, 2022 celebrating his granddaughter’s wedding at the Henry Ford Museum amongst his family and friends. In the early hours of September 17, 2022, Mike passed away at the hospital due to heart failure at the age of 89 years old.

He remained with the Heinrich family for the remainder of his childhood until his graduation in 1951 from Fowlerville High School. He stayed with the Heinrichs during this time, helping with their farm and making lifelong relationships and memories. Following graduation, he moved to Detroit where he attended the Ford Motor Company Trade School and learned the trade of Tool and Die Engineering.

On February 8, 1958 he married the love of his life, Barbara Pipoly, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fowlerville, Michigan.

He was a tool and die maker for 10 years, and a plant/ manufacturing engineer for 35 years. During the course of his career he worked for Utilex and Stanley Tools in Fowlerville and, after the plant closed, he went to work for Magnetek until he retired in 1998.

In addition to his work career, he was also very active in his community and church. He served in the Military 5th Army Engineers in 1957. He also served his community as a Fowlerville Board of Education member for 8 years, Village of Fowlerville Council trustee for 15 years, and was currently serving on the Planning Commission and had been doing so for 10 years.

Livingston County Veterans Services commemorates new office with Ribbon Cutting Celebration Sept. 8th

Livingston County Veterans Services will be commemorating their new space at 1420 Lawson Drive in Howell with a Ribbon Cutting Celebration and office tours this Thursday, Sept. 8th at 5 p.m. Local Veterans, their families, and the general public are welcomed to come take a look at the office and enjoy appetizers and non-alcoholic drinks.

Along with touring the new facility, the public is invited to come and meet the staff who are devoted to providing top-notch service.

“Now that we are fully staffed, our team is excited to provide services to more Veterans in a timelier manner, as well as bring into action new initiatives in which Veterans and their families can benefit from,” said new Director Ramon Baca.

Veterans Services has proudly served Livingston County Veterans for over 23 years. Their new location is a convenient one-stop shop that assists Veterans with accessing their benefits, increasing access to medical care, and providing medical transportation and supportive services. Additionally, the office offers a library, classrooms, access to computers and printing services, and many informal meeting areas that allow Veterans to congregate and catch up.

In September, Ramon and his team hope to use the large meeting areas to host educational workshops and knowledgeable speakers to help shed light on topics like burial benefits, VA home loans, and more.

For more information about the services Veterans Services provides, residents are encouraged to visit https://www.livgov.com/veterans/, call 517-546-6338, or stop by their office to request an appointment.

Kern Road Veterinary Clinic celebrating 50th anniversary on Sept. 11

By Ashley Pfeifer, DVM

Kern Road Veterinary Clinic (KRVC) is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, having been founded in 1972 by Dr. Henry Vaupel. What started as a one-doctor operation has expanded into a larger, eight-doctor practice, moving from the original location on Kern Road to its current location on the 105 Fowlerville Road, just north of Mason Road.

For the past half century KRVC has had the pleasure of serving the Fowlerville community by tending to the needs of their dogs, cats, and horses. While the location of the building and the faces inside of the clinic may have changed over the years, the high standard of care and compassion KRVC has for the community and its animals has never waivered.

KRVC will be celebrating its milestone anniversary with a family-friendly open house on Sunday, September 11, 2022 from 11am-2pm. Fun activities for the whole family including a bounce house, food from Tony's Dogs, Olaf from Horses' Haven, and much more are to be expected! Please join them for a great time in celebration of their 50th year serving the Fowlerville community!

Weather permitting, several dozen pilots and their passengers will fly in for the event, coming from all over Lower Michigan.

The ‘all you can eat’ breakfast is served rain or shine from 7 to 11 a.m. The menu includes eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, donuts, and milk, orange juice, and coffee. Cost is $10 per person with children five to 12 years charged $8 and children four and under are served free.

There will be drawings taking place throughout Dawn Patrol with great prizes donated by area merchants being given away. Vendors are also welcome to participate.
