 Laura Sue Dansby

Laura Sue Dansby, of Fowlerville Michigan, passed away on September 21, 2021 at age 76. "Susie" was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1945 to Gerald and Laura Douglas. She grew up in Webberville on a dairy farm and graduated from Webberville High School. She married the love of her life, Bruce Dansby, in August 1963 and moved to Williamston where Bruce was a hired hand with his father on the Wil-Ru Farm. Then they moved to Mason to take a position at Lewvina Farm and raised their three sons there.

Bruce and Susie bought their own farm in Fowlerville Michigan in 1989, and with their sons, ran a beautiful purebred Holstein Dairy until 2009 when the farm switched over to crop farming. Susie worked on the farm and at Dart Bank and Lloyd Miller & Sons to help support the farm in addition to being a wife, mother, and grandmother.

She was very active in the Ladies Ministry and Children's Program at Vantown Community Church. She was married there, celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary there, and will have her funeral reception there. She loved children both at church and her own grandchildren, whom she helped raise, and was an unbelievably generous and loving Grandmother. She was generous and kind-hearted, and was still welcoming new neighbors to the neighborhood as recently as last week.

Her true joy was her complete devotion to her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren,and great-great-grandchildren, where there was no limit to her love.  Beth Ann Sperry

October 11, 1978—August 30, 2021

Beth Ann Sperry (Humrich), 42, passed away August 30, 2021, in Jacksonville, Florida from metastatic breast cancer. She handled her illness with poise and grace.

Beth grew up in Fowlerville, Michigan and attended Eastern Michigan University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education in 2001. She moved to California in 2002 and completed her Master’s degree in Education in 2006 at San Diego State University. After six years in California, Beth moved to Lakeland, FL where she met her future husband, Ben Sperry. They married on March 16, 2012, in Ponte Vedra, FL. Their son Casen was born in February 2013, and daughter Cali was adopted in December 2017.

Beth taught ESE for 21 years, half of her life. She spent most of her years teaching Kindergarten and ESE, inspiring countless students, and fellow teachers who have shared that she touched every heart she encountered. “Just her presence made our lives a little bit brighter each and every time we saw her.”

One of her students, Sarriah, recently wrote, “Look where I am now…8th Grade! Because of you. You helped me become a better person, helped me be respectful….I love you Mrs. Sperry, you were my favorite teacher…thank you for your time with us.”

Beth’s love of children and teaching came second only to the love she had for her family. She enjoyed spending quality time with her family, hunting for shark’s teeth at the beach, exploring new hiking trails, doing yoga, visiting the mountains, and crafting.

Beth is remembered with love by her husband, Ben Sperry (Jacksonville, FL), children Casen and Cali Sperry, parents Marv and Jean Humrich (Webberville, MI) and Diane Comstock (Jacksonville, FL), sister Alane Humrich (Gainesville, FL), Kathleen and Peter Munson (Lakeland, FL), Charles and Joan Sperry (Saginaw, MI), Josh and Tiffany Sperry (Tampa, FL), and a host of other family members and friends.

Beth had such a beautiful and gentle presence. She was an incredible mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend, and teacher and truly an extraordinary and authentic human being. She exemplified love, patience, kindness, and compassion in every thought, word, and action. The world was a better place with her in it, because of her genuine love for others and our natural world. Her light will shine on forever in her children and all who knew and loved her.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. Donations in Beth’s memory may be made to METAvivor, the sole U.S. organization dedicated to awarding annual stage 4 breast cancer research.

He will always be loved and missed, and never forgotten.

Ida B. (Pat) Spalding

Ida B. (Pat) Spalding, age 88, of Fowlerville passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on September 7, 2021.

Pat was born in Manton, Michigan on August 12, 1933.

She grew up in Shaftsburg under the care of foster parents John and Lelia Shorna on their farm. Pat graduated from Perry High School in 1952 where she was active in 4-H and the band.

Pat was retired from Bent Tube in Fowlerville. She was also a past president of the Michigan Lupus Foundation for many years.

Pat was loved by many and she will remain in our hearts forever!

She was preceded in death by her husband Ted Spalding Sr, infant son David, and dear brother Ernie Winegarden.

She is survived by her three children: Ted (Sue) Spalding Jr, Kim (Judy) Sandin, and Shay (David) Gaffey. Grandchildren: Rich (Belinda) Spalding, Wade (Amy) Spalding, Scott (Ladda) Spalding, Kristy (Brad) Placido, Matt (Susi) Sandin, Mike Gaffey, DJ (Mary) Gaffey. Great grandchildren: Stephanie, Sophia, Sara, Andrew, Luke, Abby, Lydia, Justin, Joel, Renae, Joey, Molli, Patrick, Joseph, Maggie, Deone, and Lexxi.

Pat loved all animals, especially dogs. She was a friend to many and always had a kind word for everyone. She loved to play cards, family gatherings, and all people.

This is written by her granddaughter, Kristy Placido. It sums up what a wonderful person she was:

“If you knew my Gram, you were a lucky person. Always sharp, classy, smart, witty, and fun. She was quick with a smile, ready with a joke, and loved a little gossip. You never had to wonder if she loved you and she’d defend her family and friends unrelentingly. She had a forgiving spirit and didn’t carry bitterness in spite of some bad hands she had been dealt. She was not just my Grandma, she was a lifelong friend and confidant. She was a co-conspirator and always made a little mischief feel like big fun. I know she made her first stop to the Rainbow Bridge to pick up Coco and Hailey and now she is dancing pain-free in heaven, cackling with all her girlfriends! I hope Johnny Carson’s in heaven because I know she’d love to meet him! Love you forever, my sweet Gram… until we meet again.”

The family thanks Todd Walter and all the staff at Crosaires AFC home in Williamston for their care and kindness.

Donations in Pat's honor are requested to the

Crosaires Foundation

A memorial will be planned at a later date.
