 Fowlerville District Library Upcoming Events

    The Fowlerville District Library building is opent regular hours and continuing to offer curbside service (highly recommended). In compliance with executive order No. 2020-147; face masks are required for all library patrons and staff as well as maintaining the social distancing of 6 feet. A limit of 12 patrons is allowed in the building at one time. Patrons entering the building are encouraged to make their visit as short as possible. Inkeeping with social distancing and cleaning guidelines, as well as to ensure the health and safety of FDL Patrons,the Library will have a limited number of computers available for patron use. There will be a strict time limit of one hour per day, per patron, for each computer. FDL’s Wi-Fi now reaches out in the side yard.

How to Use Curbside Service

   Step 1: You can make requests: by calling the Library directly, emailing us or make your holds through the FDL’s card catalog (Max 10 items)  --Not sure what you would like to read? Use our reader’s advisory at the desk, they can help! All you need is to give them a subject, author, or genre, and they will do the rest.

   Step 2: One hour after your request has been made, please come to the Library and park in the curbside pickup designated parking located in front of the side yard.

   Step 3: From your car, call the Library and someone will come out with your requested materials.

   Step 4: Please present your library card or driver's license and your materials will be given to you.

   All programs will be held virtually via Zoom, Facebook Live or YouTube unless otherwise indicated. Program descriptions,  location, and details on how to register for each program are below.

    All programs require registration and is done by sending a Facebook Personal Message to the Library or by emailing to info@fowlervillelibrary.org, unless otherwise indicated. Zoom invitations will be sent out the day before the program date.

Phone a Story and First Chapter Fridays: Available Now

Preschool - 12th Graders -Call 517-858-2700 anytime to hear a full children's story, or a sample of a J Fiction/Chapter book or YA/Teen novel. New recordings will be available every week.

Reading to Bosco Through Zoom: Monday, September 28at 4pm –via - Zoom 

All Ages- Read to Bosco on Zoom! You can now reserve a time for your child to read to Fowlerville District Library's therapy dog! Each child will be given a 15 minute time slot to read to Bosco and must be preregistered. Registration is needed each week and spots are limited. Zoom invites will be sent out on Fridays. This event reoccurs every Monday.

Library Card Sign Up Month: September 1 – September 30

All Ages -Come in during September for a word search to complete and turn it in by September 30 to be put in a drawing to win a prize. The drawing will be on October 1 for each age group: preschool -5th, teens, and adults. Make sure to sign up for your very own library card if you don’t have one yet.

Banned Books Week: September 28 – October 1

All ages -Celebrate your freedom to read whatever you want!Wristbands and bookmarks are available at the circulation desk to show your support.

Zoom Tea and Chocolate Writer’s Group: Wednesdays, September 30 – November 11 at 2:30pm –via–Zoom

Adults –This program currently meets online via Zoom and is open to new and experienced writers. Is your creative well running dry? Don’t know where to start? We take turns bringing in fun writing prompts at every meeting to get our creativity flowing. You will have a chance to talk to other writers, and If you want feedback on your work-in-progress this is the group for you!  Feel free to bring a 1-page sample of a current project if desired. Registration is required. This group meets every Wednesday for 7 weeks.

Dungeons and Dragons for Beginners: Thursdays, October 8 - December 17 at 2:30pm –via –Zoom

6th-12th Graders - Are you new to the game Dungeons and Dragons? Come meet with the library and friends on Zoom to learn the basics to play, how to fill out your character sheet, rules, and to play a few short adventures. Register to secure your Zoom link through Facebook PM with your email address or info@fowlervillelibrary.org. This group is held on Thursdays, when school is in session.

Author Talk with Marion Cornett: Thursday, October 8, at 6:30pm—via –Zoom

Adults - Reserve your Zoom link today to hear local author Marion Cornett talk about her new book A Soldier, His Brother, and a House, a nonfiction story about a local Fowlerville house, found letters, and Jacob Defendorf –a child of the civil war. This program will be provided via Zoom and registration is required through Facebook P.M or email at info@fowlervillelibrary.org. Zoom links will be sent out the day before the program.

Handprint Witch Craft: Wednesday, October 14, at 5:30pm – 6:30pm—via –Zoom 

K-5th Graders - Join the library on Zoom and have fun this spooky month with some Halloween stories and a craft to do during the program.  Sign-up to secure your Zoom link through Facebook PM with your email address or info@fowlervillelibrary.org. Zoom invites will be sent out the day before the program. Craft kits will be available for pick up inside the library or through curbside starting Monday, October 12th.

Worst Case Scenario – The Game: Monday, October 19,at 5:30pm – 6:30pm—via –Zoom 

6th-12th Graders - Take a break and meet up with the library and friends on Zoom. We will be playing Worst Case Scenario –TheGame, to see if you have what it takes to survive. To register, contact us through Facebook PM with your email address or info@fowlervillelibrary.org. Zoom invites will be sent out the day before the program.

Virtual Beyond the Book: Thursday, October 22, at 6:30pm –via –Zoom 

Adults -Read Death in Ten Minutes: The Forgotten Life of Radical Suffragette Kitty Marion by Dr Fern Riddell with the Library. The participants signed up will get an opportunity to check out our pairing movie choice Suffragette and watch it at home. We will meet up virtually on Zoom to discuss the book and the movie. Registration is required with a $10 deposit and a valid email address, to receive a book and a Zoom link. Registration is done in person inside or through curbside service at the library. Books are limited and only available to one per household. Zoom links will be sent out the day before the program.
