Jill Kathryn Moon
Jill Kathryn Moon of Webberville, MI passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024 due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. Jill leaves behind her beloved husband of 58 years, Fred Moon, son Louis Moon (Heather) of Dansville, MI, son Chris Moon (Dawn) of Lafayette, IN and daughter Katie Moon (Paul) of Ann Arbor, MI. Jill had nine grandchildren: Nick, Zack, Sienna, Noelle, Aspen, Maya, Elia, Coco and Lennox in addition to two great-grandchildren; Carson and Bailey.
Born on August 13, 1943 in Kalamazoo, MI, Jill was raised by her great grandmother, Nellie Miller, in Kalamazoo. After graduating from high school in 1961, Jill attended Michigan State University on an academic scholarship and graduated in 1965 with a degree in Education.
Fred and Jill met on campus in the fall of 1961 and were married in June 1965. They started a family the following year and raised their three children in Howell, MI. Jill and Fred moved to Webberville in 1995 where they have spent many enjoyable years, especially appreciating the friendships made through the Webberville United Methodist Church community.
Jill taught preschool in Howell and Fowlerville for ten years before returning to Michigan State University to complete a Masters degree in Early Education and graduating in 1986. Shortly afterwards, she secured a position in Fowlerville at Smith Elementary school teaching special education at first then moving to kindergarten. She was known far and wide in the Fowlerville community as a well loved teacher and colleague.
After retirement in 2004, Jill became involved in several social groups and volunteer organizations. Her great joys in life included travel, gardening, reading, baking, quilting, stamping but most of all, spending valuable time and creating memories with her family and friends. Jill was known for her quick wit, easy laugh and an unwavering loyalty to those she loved best. She will be fondly and eternally remembered as a loving wife, invested parent and an outstanding friend to all.
Visitation was held on Friday April 26, 2024 from 10am-12pm, with the funeral service taking place at 12pm at Webberville United Methodist Church, 4215 Holt Rd., Webberville, MI. A luncheon followed the service. Please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org in memory of Jill Moon
