Robert ‘Bob’ Lynn Shanks
Robert (Bob) Lynn Shanks, 70, passed away peacefully after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at his home in Webberville, MI, with his family by his side. He was born on June 12, 1952, in Lansing, MI, to Robert and Geraldine (Selfridge) Shanks.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Webberville. In 1989, he married his wife Kathy (Chelf) Shanks. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Geraldine and his son Jason Szyszka. He is survived by his daughters Bobbi Shanks, Lindsay (Tom) Surline, Andrea (Dan) Marvin, and son Dustin Shanks. He also leaves behind grandchildren Jake, Josh, Chrystian, Makayla, Cooper, and Audrey.
Bob retired from the General Motors Proving Grounds in Milford, MI, after working there for 30 years. He also served in the National Guard.
He liked to live slow and drive fast. He loved “going North” to spend time fishing and relaxing at the family cabin in Houghton Lake, MI. He took his side-by-side to happy hour at Papa’s Bait every day with his buddies. And he spent many years racing cars he built with friends at Mid Michigan Motorplex in Stanton, MI.
Bob will be missed dearly by so many friends and family.
A “Receiving of Friends” will be held from 12-3:00pm on Tuesday, December 27, at Herrmann Funeral Home in Fowlerville, MI.
