Roger Arnold Pierson
22 Nov 1940 – 05 Dec 2022
Roger Arnold Pierson (Butch) was born the youngest of 6 children to Otto Emerson Pierson and Florence Emma Rogers on November 22, 1940. He grew up in Conway Township in Livingston County, MI. The house and barn were built by his great grandfather Worden in the 1890s and although he was born in Howell, MI, his siblings all were born on the farm. The children grew up there and graduated from Fowlerville High School, with Roger in the Class of 1959.
He was married to Carol Ann Miller for 30 years and they had 3 children together. He worked the fields on the family farm and raised and milked cows. He and the family took vacations, traveling to many places out west where he fell in love with Colorado and eventually moved there, working on a farm in northern Colorado.
After being divorced, Roger met his life partner, Ellie Johns, in March 1991. Upon retiring, he spent winters with Ellie in Harlingen, TX and summers in Colorado. Among his hobbies were woodworking, gardening, and painting.
Roger was an outdoorsman, taking time to hunt and fish in Michigan and go with friends on trips to hunt in Colorado, Idaho, and Montana. After selling the cows in Michigan, Roger drove milk truck and later drove his truck transporting RVs to various places around the country later in life.
Preceding Roger in death are his parents Otto and Florence Pierson, sisters Bethel Desmond, Donna Albert, and Lois Ann Whipple, and brothers George (Pete) Pierson and Otto Emerson Pierson, Jr.
He is survived by his life partner Ellie Johns; children: Brenda Pierson, Bruce (Mary Ann) Pierson, Halsey (Sherry) Pierson, Doreen Warrender, Dave (Vicky) Warrender, and Dan (Sally) Warrender; 6 grandchildren: Robert (Twila) Pierson, Stephanie (Rich) Pierson, Jessica Bergum, Karli and Kyle Warrender, and Joseph Ecklar; and 9 great- grandchildren: Hailey, Caitlin, Nicholas, Tyler, Riley, Andrew, Brendan Annie and Dustin.
A service will be held in Colorado at Mosher Funeral Home and he will be cremated. A memorial service is being planned for family and friends in Michigan later in the spring and his ashes will be interred there.
