 Willow Rose Yon

Today, and every day, we will forever celebrate the life of Willow Rose Yon. She is a precious piece to the family of Paul, Denise, Gage, and Ava Yon. Willow is forever twenty-one years old.

On March 27, 2022, Willow was the victim to the actions of a wrong-way driver. Willow was miles from her apartment when the two cars collided on highway 131 near 28th Street in Grand Rapids. However, no such actions should receive more attention than Willow’s life.

At the time of the death, Willow was a third-year student at Kendall College of Art and Design. Her major, and passion, was with industrial design. She had recently completed six internship interviews that she was excited and confident about. Willow strongly felt that Grand Rapids was her place, and was proud of how she had made it on her own.

Prior to college, Willow attended Fowlerville High School. Throughout her early years, she was involved in 4-H, dance, and many art events. Willow was the artist that everyone knew and admired. The Yon family is now learning just how much Willow touched the lives of others. Many stories start with, “She was my first best friend…” She was encouraging, supportive, incredibly strong and bold, confident and outspoken. She also expressed passion for animals and clothing. The amount of clothes and shoes that Willow owns is probably not surprising to most people that know her. Willow has two pets of her own, one dog and one cat. Willow was, and still is, the most beautiful girl that shines her light on all of us everyday moving forward.

Willow is survived by parents: Paul and Denise Yon, siblings: Gage and Ava Yon, grandparents: Ron and Bonnie Holck, special aunt Christy Holck, many aunts and uncles she dearly loved, and many, many more family and friends.

If you would like to join us in celebrating Willow’s beautiful life, open visitation is Sunday, April 3rd, 2:00pm-4:00pm and Monday, April 4th, 9:30am-11:30am. A small, private family service will be held after visitation hours on Monday, at 11:30am. A GoFundMe has been created in order to preserve the memories made with Willow. https://www.gofundme.com/f/willow-rose-yons-family?sharetype=teams&member=18375797&pc=fb_co_campmgmt_w&rcid=r01-164856838363-74a2523caf7611ec&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=p_lico%2Bshare-sheet
