Her Legacy… Marilyn Rita (McGill) Bailey, 90, passed away April 15, 2022. She was born on October 6, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan to Oreon McGill and Irene (Zaretsky) McGill. She graduated from Cooley High School in Detroit, in 1949. Marilyn married the love of her life, Lewis J. Bailey, on November 3, 1947, in Redford Township, Michigan. Their love would continue for the next 64 years. Marilyn was the office manager at Kmart in Okemos, Michigan from 1971 until their closing in 1995. She will be remembered as a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother. She was the best friend to all 7 of her children. She was an amazing gardener, and loved all animals and children. Her generosity and caring nature to her family was altruistic, with her continuous love and support.
Her Family… Marilyn will be missed by her 7 children: (Kerry) Vicki Watkins, Karen Cochran, (Roy) Debbie Lynn, (Todd) Christie Showerman, Bill Bailey, (Jeff) Tracie Hymer, (Scott) Kelly House; her brother: Larry McGill; 13 grandchildren: Mike (Janet) Wilson, Jason Watkins, Tami Libby, John Cochran, Matthew Cochran, Tiffany Forester, Nicholas (Jenn) Morse, Christopher Bailey, Brandon (Laura) Bailey, Austin Meyer, Danielle Meyer, Jordan Gorshe, Brendon Gorshe.
Also, 21 great grandchildren: Paige Wilson, Mikey Wilson, Tim Waycott, Ethan Waycott, Brian Libby, Amber Libby, Levi Cochran, Rodi Cochran, Isiah Cochran, (Jake) Alyssa Miller, Josh Cochran, Makayla Cochran, Austin Forrester, Leah Forrester, Jayden Morse, Jenna Morse, Jaxson Morse, Eli Bailey, Arabella Bailey, Caden Gonzalez, Asher Meyer; and 1 great-great grandchild: Maven, along with many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Lewis Bailey, her parents Oreon and Irene McGill, her brother Michael McGill, her sister Beverly Alder, and her granddaughter Tonya Hale.
Her Farewell… Marilyn’s family and friends gathered Thursday, April 21, 2022, from 11:00AM-1:00PM at Borek Jennings Funeral Home, Lamb Chapel in Howell, Michigan. Community Farewell followed at 1:00PM at the funeral home, Lamb Chapel. Burial took place at Greenwood Cemetery, Fowlerville at 2:00PM. A celebration of Marilyn’s life followed with a reception at the VFW Hall in Fowlerville. Jeffrey Howard served as celebrant. Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Humane Society.
