The Torch & Torch 180 holding Virtutal Reality Auction to raise funds

The Torch and Torch 180, headquartered at 131 Mill St., Fowlerville, are excited to introduce an entirely new way to show support for these two organizations.

At noon on Thursday, Nov.  26, (Thanksgiving Day) the ‘doors´ will open to the Torch and Torch 180’s Virtual Reality Auction, an auction that will take place on Facebook at https://fb.me/e/3fHsCVvou

You simply type ‘Torch´ into Facebook’s search tool to find the auction event. The auction will run from noon on Nov. 26 through 9:00 pm on Dec. 6 just in time for holiday shopping and gift giving.

This event promises to have a major impact on these organizations. Followers of the Torch and Torch 180 will be receiving an invite to the auction and are able, through the event page, to invite an unlimited number of guests, no matter their locale, to virtually ‘attend´ and participate in the auction.

Members of the public can also participate by going to https://fb.me/e/3fHsCVvou or searching for the event on Facebook.

Items up for bid include local business and restaurant gift certificates, gift baskets, jewelry, gift cards, skin care products, and hand-crafted items; there is something guaranteed for everyone on your holiday list.

All monies raised by the auction will go toward funding Torch 180 student scholarships & training and financing new food & catering trucks for The Torch. By participating in this auction, community members will not only be raising funds for these organizations, but they will also be supporting local businesses and aiding the non-profits to continue to help local residents in need during the pandemic.

Torch and Torch 180 founders Rhonda Callahan and Sarah Ruddle shared how they are hopeful this online format will bring important attention and support to the work they do.

“Like everyone else, COVID-19 has impacted our organizations,” they said. “We are so thankful for all of the supporters we have, and just love the collaboration between our organizations for this auction. This event will allow people to participate virtually and assist us during the difficult financial times we are in and help us to keep moving forward.:

Everyone is welcome to browse, shop, or just drop by and sign the guest book to show their support for the Torch and Torch 180 on the Facebook Virtual Reality Auction event. Items will be awarded to the highest bidders as of 9pm on Dec. 6. Visit the event page repeatedly and bid often!

Beginning Dec. 7, items will be available for pick-up or can be shipped for an additional cost.

Donations of items and services for the auction are still being accepted through Nov. 25. Interested persons or businesses should contact Sue at 810-360-3163. For more information or to donate online, visit mobiletorch.org and torch180.org
