The final meeting of this year’s George W. Lee Civil War Round Table will be held this Tuesday, May 14th, starting at 7:00 PM.
The meeting location is the Livingston County EMS Headquarters Building (aka John E. LaBelle Public Safety Complex), 1911 N. Tooley Rd, Howell. This building is located on the east side of Livingston County Airport. Tooley Road is accessed off of M-59, about a quarter mile east of the intersection of M-59 & Grand River Ave.
John Urschel, author, researcher, and archivist will be our May speaker. He has done a major investigatory work on the Andersonville National Cemetery and will discuss the soldiers buried there. John will be talking about Michigan’s dead at Andersonville and his efforts to correct the record of whom lies under the headstones. He will highlight soldiers from the Howell area, and will provide slides, music, and information found nowhere else.
Michigan’s Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) Memorial Hall and Museum is located at 224 South Main Street in Eaton Rapids. Upcoming progams include:
