The Fowlerville Police Dept. is holding an Opiate Awareness Community Forum on Thursday, May 30, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Fowlerville United Brethren Church. Local law enforcement officials have held previous forums at the church, with the upcoming one being a continuation of their educational effort.
The forum will offer details on the local impact of opiate drugs in the community, trends that police officials and those in treatment are seeing, and other relevant information.
The presentation is designed to raise awareness of the use of opiates in the area, offer advise to those who have family members or friends using a drug or who they suspect of be using or abusing them, to help those in the community who are or have been addicted to opiates, and to provide the public with information that is designed to prevent the use of these harmful drugs—both those procured illegally or that are abused as prescriptions.
