Mary Lako
It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our dear sister, Mary, who passed away Thursday, March 30, 2017 surrounded by family at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Mary was born January 2, 1941 in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Emerick “Jim” and Maxine (Pardee) Lako. Surviving are brothers, Michael (Donna) Lako, Carl Lako and James (Beth) Lako. Also nieces and nephews, Shelly Rife, Matthew Rife, Michelle Pichler, Brent Lako, Jenny (Clark) Olrich, Todd Lako, Holly (Don) Purdie, Brad (Lucie) Lako and Shad Lako; loving aunt to many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Maxine, sister, Margaret Eckles and nephews, Steve Lako and Luke Lako.
Mary loved gardening, visiting friends and so loved and enjoyed the great nieces and nephews as they were growing up. Family gatherings were very special to her, as she was to her family. Little Aunt Mary will be greatly missed. She will forever be in our hearts and we will always be filled with special memories of her. She has left us knowing that Heaven has gained a “gardening angel” to watch over us until we meet again.
She was raised on and lived her entire life on the family farm. She graduated from Fowlerville High School, class of 1959; worked for McPherson Hospital for many years and then retired from Citizens Insurance Company.
Memorial services were held at the Trinity Methodist Church 8201 West Iosco Road, Fowlerville, Michigan on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. For those desiring, donations in Mary’s name may be made to American Heart Association, charity of their choice or put up a bluebird house or plant a flower in Mary’s memory. Arrangements by MacDonald’s Funeral Home in Howell, MI. The family’s online guestbook is available at www.macdonaldsfuneralhome.com
