Herbert Vance Miller
Herbert Vance Miller, of Gregory, Michigan, age 92, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at his farm where he has lived for most of his life. He was born on May 12, 1924, on a different farm near Gregory, the only child of Vance and Nina (Hutson) Miller. Herb graduated from Stockbridge High School in 1942. He was active in F.F.A and band. On July 22, 1949, he married Bernice A. Harris of Fowlerville. Twin daughters and one son were born to this union. He worked as a dairy farmer until 1966. He then worked repairing chainsaws for Howlett Bros. and Hackney Hardware in Gregory until his retirement. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church near Fowlerville and member of Livingston County Farm Bureau for many years. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Bonnie Jackson of East Lansing, a son, Jim Miller of Gregory, four grandchildren: Melissa (Joel) Spackman of Bellingham, WA, Shiloh (Josh) Ladd of Fremont, NE, Amanda Neiser of Lynden, WA, and Jordan Jackson of Okemos, MI; ten great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a daughter, Connie Miller.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at the Caskey-Mitchell Funeral Home, Stockbridge, with Pastor Dave Freeland officiating. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery, Stockbridge. The family received friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
