LaVern ‘Ike’ Lynwood Shooter
LaVern (Ike) Lynwood Shooter, age 82, of Fowlerville, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 1st, 2017. He was born November 26th, 1934, in Conway Township to Clinton and Sarah (Lang) Shooter. Ike married his sweetheart, Sondra (Sandy) McClure on June 29th, 1957. Ike graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1954. He joined the United States Air Force in August of 1954, he served his country for 3 ½ years. Ike worked most of his life as a heavy equipment operator at General Motors Proving Grounds, Milford, where he retired from in the fall of 1987. Ike enjoyed spending his free time going to church at the United Brethren Church in Fowlerville, where he was a greeter for over 26 years, camping with family, fishing and watching birds.
Ike is survived by his wife, Sondra of almost 60 years, 3 children: Kathy (Rodney) Grill of Webster, WI, Jody (Mike) McCartney of East Lansing, Scott (Pam) Shooter of Hubbard Lake. Also 20 grandchildren and 32 great-grand children. His beloved dogs Cocoa and Muffin. 2 brothers: Harold (Marj) Shooter and David (Debbie) Shooter, 2 sisters: Donna Clark, Norma (Sam) Heap and sister-in-law: Karlene Shooter. Preceded in death by his parents: Clinton and Sarah Shooter, 2 brothers: George Shooter and Paul Shooter, 1 sister-in-law Connie Shooter and 1 brother-in-law Ross Clark.
Visitation was held Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Herrmann Funeral Home. Funeral Service took place on Thursday April 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at United Brethren Church in Fowlerville.
