 Bonnie ‘Baughan’ Wise

Bonnie (Baughan) Wise, age 78, went to heaven on Sunday, June 16 after navigating a long illness with grace and courage. Born January 16, 1946 in Detroit, Bonnie and her family moved to the Fowlerville area when she was 8 years old, and she has been an active part of the community since that time. She graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1964, and married her childhood sweetheart and best friend, Lenny Wise in 1965. Together they brought two daughters into the world: Heather and Heidi.

Bonnie was a stay-at-home Mom until she began her 30-year career as a real estate agent in the 1980s, and later became an associate broker. Many people in Livingston County found their forever homes with her as their patient guide through the process.

Bonnie had an active mind and a great sense of humor, and generally had a smile on her face for everyone she met. Bonnie was an avid gardener, and her perennial gardens were a magical sight to behold. She was a gifted seamstress and taught sewing to scores of local children in 4-H for many years. She was an active member of St. Agnes Catholic Church since childhood and enjoyed volunteering her time to keep the church grounds blooming and beautiful.

Friends and family were of the utmost importance to her, and she will forever be Aunt Bonnie to generations – some related and many who were not. Those who called her Grandma, however, truly owned her heart and could do no wrong. Joshua Scott, Chance Lipski and Morgan Lipski will forever have the memories of vacations with Grammy and Papa, golf-cart rides, movies and huge bowls of popcorn during numerous “Grammy Nights,” which will continue to fill their hearts with love for their grandmother, even though she no longer walks among us.

Bonnie was preceded in death by Lenny, her beloved husband of nearly 50 years; her parents Agnes and Donald R. Baughan; her younger sister Nancy Baughan; and parents-in-law Inez and Martin Wise. She is survived by her children Heidi Wise and Heather Wise (Craig Lipski); her grandchildren and granddaughter-in-law Katie Scott; great-grandchildren Rylie and Ivy Scott; five brothers and sisters (Don, John, Patrick, and Lori Baughan, and Peggy Hasenbusch); her siblings-in-law Marsha and Alan Walsh, Deanna and Kyle Cruse, and Larry and Norene Wise; and numerous nieces and nephews and their progeny.

Visitation and Rosary was held at the Herrmann Funeral Home in Fowlerville on Thursday, June 20th from 4 to 7 p.m. A viewing took place on Friday, June 21st at 10:00 a.m., just prior to the funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church. Burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery occurred immediately after the mass, which was followed by a luncheon at the St. Agnes Lothamer Parish Center.
