‘Concerts at the Courthouse’ begins on Friday, July 5th with duo

‘Concerts at the Courthouse’ begins this Friday, July 5th with Laurie & Rusty Wright. The series is presented by the Livingston Arts Council. A variety of local area musicians take center stage each Friday night throughout the summer at the Howell Courthouse Amphitheater, 200 E. Grand River in Howell on the Courthouse lawn! This free event features rock, country and classic tribute musical entertainment. Celebrating 25 years of bringing music to Livingston County! Show begins at 7:00 pm, bring a blanket or a chair and enjoy the show!

Big Red Barrel available for unused medication & needle disposal July 13th

The Big Red Barrel will be at Recycle Livingston Saturday July 13, 2024 from 9 am to 1 am to collect unused medications and used needles. Recycle Livingston is located at 170 Catrell Drive in Howell. This is a free service. No questions asked. Put pills in a zip lock container, they can be mixed together. We prefer not to have the medicine container. Keep liquid medications separate. Dump into a zip lock bag with enough paper towel to soak up the liquid. Needles must be the proper disposal container, either purchased from a pharmacy or use a plastic laundry detergent bottle. Reseal the bottle and tape it. Do your part to keep medications from being abused. Do not flush unused medication. The Big Red Barrel Project is part of Livingston County Community Alliance.

‘The ‘Bishop’s Wife”: A dramatic reading planned July 14th in Howell

‘The Bishop's Wife: a dramatic reading of the much-loved comedy . will be performed on Sunday, July 14 at the Community Theatre of Howell. Go to www://cththeatre.org for more information. This is a FREE EVENT. No ticket or reservation is required. CTH is located at 1400 W. Grand River, Howell. Come prepared to when a angel comes to Earth to help - but not necessarily in the way the Bishop would prefer.

Crews making repairs to CSX Rail crossings in Fowlerville area

The Livingston County Road Commission is warning drivers in Handy and Howell Townships of various CSX Railroad crossing projects, such as grade crossing repairs. Beginning July 1, CSX crews will be working at the crossings at Emmons Road and Warner Road. Work is scheduled to wrap up July 2. The crossings at Hogback Road and Cemetery Road will follow July 2-3. Van Riper Road is scheduled July 3-4. Work wraps up July 8-9 on Potts Road, Nicholson Road and Wheeler Road. Signs will be placed near the crossings by the railroad in advance of the start date to notify motorists of the upcoming closures.
