Sharon (Gunn) McOwen

    Sharon (Gunn) McOwen, age 74 of Fowlerville, Michigan, passed peacefully at home on December 16, 2018 following a long illness. She is survived by her husband of over 55 years Bob, son Terry (Andrea), daughter Denise “Jen” (Matt) Zielinski and grandchildren Hunter and Ashton Zielinski. She is preceded in death by her mother Erma E. Groll, absent father Allan Dale Gunn, and her mother's sister Edna (Henry R.) Davis.
    Sharon grew up in Sylvania, Ohio and graduated from Sylvania High School in 1962; she continued her education at Owens Community College. She raised her family in Whitehouse, Ohio where she served as Member and later President of Council for over ten years before relocating to Fowlerville in 2002.  She was also an instrumental member of AWACC which was created to prevent a large state prison from being built in Whitehouse.  Her favorite activities included embroidery art, scout leader for both boys and girls, team bowling, square dancing, cake decorating and spoiling her many Pomeranian dogs.
   She was a devoted and loving wife, outstanding mother and a terrific grandmother!  Her compassion and wonderful smile touched so many people and will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her.
    A memorial was held in her honor at Heart of the Shepherd Lutheran Church, 228 N. Burkhart Rd., Howell, on December 23rd at 1 pm.
