Willabelle “Willie” Holmes
Willabelle “Willie” Holmes, 102, of Denton, TX, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 24, 2021. She was born on May 7, 1919 in Unadilla Township, Michigan to Carl and Emily (Fineout) Lillywhite.
Willie was a caring, happy soul who was interested in everyone she met. She loved to dance and met her husband, Riby, on the dance floor. They continued to dance for 67 years and loved teaching others to dance, especially square dancing. They also loved traveling and visited many states and countries during their time together. She worked as a receptionist in several physician’s offices in Fowlerville, Michigan until she retired. Riby and Willie moved from Fowlerville to Denton, TX in 2000 to be near their daughter, Cheryl.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Holmes Aldridge and her husband, Ronald, of Denton, two grandchildren, Danielle Aldridge and Michelle Aldridge Morris and Michelle’s husband, Todd and three great-grandchildren, Sydney, Kaili and Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her mother and father, sisters, Eudora Smith and Mary Jean Gonshorowski and brother Sherman Lillywhite.
A memorial service will be held at Argyle United Methodist Church in Argyle, Texas on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 3:00 pm.
