Don Austin
Don Austin of Haslett, MI, died at the age of 77 after a long illness. Don grew up in Webberville, MI, then served in the Marines. He returned to the Lansing area, worked for the State of Michigan and Michigan Commission for the Blind for over 30 years. Don enjoyed birdwatching, bowling, reading, traveling, and spending time with his wife Barb and their cats. He and Barb enjoyed many trips to Frankfort (Crystal Lake) and Lake Leelanau. Don always had a positive attitude and was a kind, caring man who will be greatly missed.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Alice Austin, and sister, Barbara Hath. He is survived by his loving wife Barb and their two cats Cheeto and Colby Jack. He is also survived by his sisters, Sharon (Lyle) Hath, Carol (Ron) Kuch, Kathy Schultz, Debra Albin (James Smith); his brother Dan Austin (Wendy Kottong); and many nieces and nephews.
Thank you to all of Don's caregivers at Ingham County Medical Care Facility (Dobie Road) and Sparrow Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Nottingham Nature Nook, a Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (16848 Towar Ave, East Lansing MI 48823). Don always enjoyed hearing about and seeing pictures of the many animals that have been rehabbed there.
A Memorial Service was being held at Noon with a visitation at 11am on Saturday, July 24th at Webberville United Methodist Church, 4215 Holt Road, Webberville, MI.
