 Richard William Hamlin

Richard William Hamlin went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at the age of 75 at Stoneleigh Hospice Residence in Lansing.

Richard was born in Perry on June 20, 1945, to Elmer and Lorraine (Sommer) Hamlin. He graduated from Webberville High School in 1963 and served as the Region IV State Vice President for the Michigan FFA Association from 1963-1964. Rich developed Hamlin Mobile Home Park after an accident that altered his life. He married Roberta M. Gray on May 12, 1979.

Richard was a member of Family Life Wesleyan Church, the Masonic Lodge, and the Lions Club. Rich loved to make people laugh. He frequented the local coffee shops and enjoyed playing euchre and sports. Richard liked to say he was, “born in a car and loved to travel.” He also loved time with family and friends, especially his children and grandchildren. The grandchildren knew where Grandpa’s tin of cookies was and that he would always be ready to share one with them.

Richard is survived by his wife, Roberta; son, Mark (Megan); daughter Laura (Ramey) Lunceford; and grandchildren: Luke, Benjamin, Olivia, Eleanor, Ella, Beau, and Samuel. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Hamlin, and sister, Ruth Ann Matthews. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Lorraine; his brother, Robert Hamlin; and his daughter-in-law, Nicole Hamlin.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. James LaBerge and the staff at Hospice of Lansing and Stoneleigh Residence.

Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, May 16, 2021, from 2-6 pm at Family Life Wesleyan Church, 3720 Rowley Rd., Williamston, MI. A funeral service celebrating Richard’s life will be held Monday, May 17, 2021 at 11 am, also at Family Life Wesleyan Church. The family will begin receiving guests one hour prior to the service. A luncheon will follow. Condolences and memories can be shared in Richard’s online guest book at www.VickersFuneralHomes.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Family Life Wesleyan Church or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
