 Opal Virginia Burry

    Mrs. Opal Virginia Burry (Hensley), of Stockbridge, MI, died peacefully, and surrounded by loved ones, at St. Joesph Mercy Hospital on October 6, 2020 in Ypsilanti, MI. She was 90 years old.

   Opal is survived by her two brothers, Dave Testerman of Virginia and Lenis Testerman of Kentucky; two grandchildren, Michael Stacey (Jennifer Nelson-Stacey) of Jackson, MI and Michele Stacey-Forstner (Henry Forstner) of Durand, MI; 10 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; and many more beloved family and friends throughout West Virginia, Florida, and Michigan. 

     She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Jean Burry; two children, Edward Stacy and Ira Stacey Jr.; and grandson Robert Stacey, as well as her two parents (Willie and Jennie Hensley), three sisters (Betty Jo Johnson, Pat Curtin, and Bernice Testerman), and one brother (Larry Testerman).

    Opal was born on November 4, 1929 in Panther, WV to Willie and Jennie Hensley. She was lucky to meet the love of her life, Robert Jean Burry, and they married on November 15, 1957 and were only parted by death in 2013. They opened their own pizzeria in the Detroit area and later moved to Fowlerville where they both worked faithfully in the food service department of the Fowlerville District Schools. Opal was also an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary at her local VFW and remains a Life Member, alongside her husband.
