Webberville High School Class of 2017 to graduate this Thursday, June 1
The Webberville High School Class of 2017 will graduate this Thursday, June 1. The Commencement Exercises will take place at the Spartan Center, starting at 7 p.m. Forty-four seniors are expected to receive their diplomas.
The evening program begins with the Fanfare and Processional, with the high school band—led by Gary Franks--playing Pomp and Circumstance.
A Welcome Address will be given by the high school principal Kathleen Pierman. An Opening Presentation will then be offered by Arin Elzerman, the class president. The band will then perform ‘Epiphany’ by Eric Morales, the final selection to be played by senior members.
Amy Kulaga will give the Salutatorian’s address, followed by the guest speaker, Janet Reifenberg. Reifenberg is a longtime high school teacher who is retiring at the end of the school year.
Rebecca Teed will then offer the Valedictorian’s Address, followed by the Recognition of Seniors by Andrew Smith, the Dean of Students. Next up is the high school choir, under the direction of Jennifer Filipiak, who will sing ‘Wide Open Spaces’.
The program then concludes with the Presentation of Diplomas by Amy Coe, the school board president; Brian Friddle, the superintendent; and Kathleen Pierman.
