James Douglas ‘Bo’ Harvey
After 78 gracious and loving years, James Douglas (affectionately called Bo) Harvey, passed away peacefully August 6th, 2025 while surrounded by family.
His memory will be preserved and cherished by his surviving family including his loving wife Margaret Harvey; brothers Ray (Harriet) Harvey, Earl Harvey, Elmer Harvey and sisters Judy (Jim) Latrell and Dorothy Harold; children, James Harvey and Daviet Knox; grandchildren, Briana, Elizabeth, Jason and Emily; great grandchildren David James and Margaret; and many more family and friends.
He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Pearl Harvey, his brothers Harley Harvey, John Robert Harvey, Arlis Harvey and Daryl Harvey, and his granddaughter Kayla Harvey.
Bo was a loving, kind, and generous man.
There is no better example of a true American man than Bo—steady, honorable, and quietly devoted. He was incredibly talented in his workshop, crafting prize-winning reindeer and beautiful rocking horses that have brought joy to his grandchildren and especially his great grandson, David. His woodworking wasn’t just a skill—it was an expression of love, patience, and pride. Whether he was fixing up an old automobile or working on the home he built and maintained in Fowlerville, Bo poured his heart into everything he did. He was the kind of person who could figure out how to fix just about anything, and he was always willing to help others do the same. Family, neighbors, and friends all knew they could count on Bo.
Above all, Bo was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was married to the love of his life, Margie, for 60 years. Their love story “all began with a whistle” as Margie tells it, and their unwavering love for one another is an inspiration to their children and grandchildren. Bo and Margie were famous for their karaoke nights at the Legion where they sang, laughed and gathered with friends.
Though he is no longer with us, the love he shared and the life he built will continue to shape and inspire us for generations to come. We miss you and will do our best to carry on your legacy. We love you, Papa. Love your grandkids
Memorial to be held September 21st at 1 o’clock with lunch immediately following at the American Legion, Howell.
