 Ruth Shirely Hoag

Webberville MI

    Ruth Shirley Hoag, age 76. Our loving and beautiful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother was called home to the Lord on March 8, 2025. Born March 11, 1948, in Howell, MI. Mrs. Hoag retired in 2010 after 35 years of service with the Fowlerville Community Schools.

    She was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church where she was active in the choir and the Women’s Group. Ruth grew up on a farm where she developed a special love for sheep. She also enjoyed spending time with her family in the upper peninsula at their cabin and snowmobiling. Watching their children and grandchildren participate in sports, band, 4-H, dance and other activities was her passion, as her family was her life. Anyone that met her came to love her.

    She was preceded in death by her daughter Amy Sue Musolf, her parents Frederick Mauritz and Lillian Matilda Anderson, her sister Janet Ann Chambers, daughter Lisa Dawn Borchard, great grandson Douglas Allen Sergison.

    Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Donald L. Hoag; 4 children: Martin (Rhonda) Musolf, John (Stacey) Musolf, Heidi (James) McEachin, and Chris (Jodi) Hoag; brother and sister-in-law Harold and Mary Anderson, and lifelong best friend Alice Miller.

    Also, 12 Grandchildren: Stacia Lynn (Josh) Jackson, Anna Beth (Brad) Cole, Laura Lee Musolf, Jack Musolf, Tucker (Jordan) Musolf, Cassandra (Adan) Reyes, Jacob and Elizabeth McEachin, Alysse (Mark) Crum, Allie (Nate) Sergison, Caleb (Julie) Borchard, Lauren (Andrew) Gerkin. 19 Great Grandchildren: Lennon, Delaney and Vera Jackson, Bentley Musolf, Jesse and Jennifer Irani, Luke and Aaron Reyes, Brady, Blake, Brogan and Annistyn Crum, Sadie, Benson and Wesley Sergison, Orion and Elias Borchard, Chase and Audrey Gerkin, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was also a faithful Godmother of 9 including Lee Hisey, Fred Chambers, Nathan Chambers, Mike Miller, April Ott, Brenda Titus, Gregg Anderson, Jodi Enia and Stacy Tomlin.

    Ruth was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fowlerville; the family would like to thank the congregation for their continued love and support.

    Visitations were held on Wednesday, March 12. from 3 – 7pm at Herrmann Funeral Home in Fowlerville and Thursday, March 13, at 10am at Memorial Lutheran Church, Williamston with Funeral Services at 1am.
