Jerry Lee Bailey
Jerry Lee Bailey, 89, of Fowlerville passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025. He was welcomed into this world on August 15, 1935, the second child born to Raymond and Mildred Bailey in Texarkana, AK. The Bailey’s moved to Detroit when the kids were young. After graduating from High School, Jerry proudly served his country in the Army then returned to Detroit and had a 39-year career with The Detroit News. Also, upon his return he married the love of his life, Doris Elaine (Wall) Bailey on January 25, 1958. They welcomed six children into their lives: Debra, Kirk, Kathleen, Thomas, Fred and Dr. Jerry II.
In 1973 they moved to their home in Fowlerville and have remained there since. Jerry involved himself with Boy Scouts of America, Teamster Union Board Representative, Fowlerville Athletic Boosters just to name a few organizations. He enjoyed the game of golf for many years and had two Hole-in-Ones.
Jerry is survived by his wife Doris. Children and their Spouses: Debra, Cindy Bailey (Kirk), Kathleen (Byron), Thomas (Belinda), Fred (Mary) and Jerry (Pamela). Grandchildren: Michelle, Krista, Barbara, Michael, Thomas Jr., Richard, John, Sam, Maggie, Jerren and Keegan. There are ten great grandchildren and a great granddaughter on the way.
Son Kirk Bailey and all his siblings: Alfred Bailey, Martha (Benny) Gray and Johnny Bailey preceded him in death.
We are celebrating a Life Well Lived at Crossroads Church of God 3940 Pinckney Rd Howell, MI 48843 at 12 noon on April 5th with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made in his memory to the Capital Campaign Fund of The Crossroads Church of God.
