 Albert “Mike” Stock

Mike Stock held many titles. He was a brother, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, cousin, mentor, and to all a friend. He was so loved by his family and friends, and he did not die alone because that is not the way he lived his life. He spent his final hours the night of September 16, 2022 celebrating his granddaughter’s wedding at the Henry Ford Museum amongst his family and friends. In the early hours of September 17, 2022, Mike passed away at the hospital due to heart failure at the age of 89 years old.

Mike was born March 15,1933 in Cambridge, Ohio to Albert E. and Sarah Catherine Stock. After his father’s death in 1938, he was moved to the St. Vincent DePaul home of the Heinrich family in Webberville, Michigan. He remained with the Heinrich family for the remainder of his childhood until his graduation in 1951 from Fowlerville High School. He stayed with the Heinrichs during this time, helping with their farm and making lifelong relationships and memories. Following graduation, he moved to Detroit where he attended the Ford Motor Company Trade School and learned the trade of Tool and Die Engineering.

On February 8, 1958 he married the love of his life, Barbara Pipoly, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fowlerville, Michigan.

He was a tool and die maker for 10 years, and a plant/ manufacturing engineer for 35 years. During the course of his career he worked for Utilex and Stanley Tools in Fowlerville and, after the plant closed, he went to work for Magnetek until he retired in 1998.

In addition to his work career, he was also very active in his community and church. He served in the Military 5th Army Engineers in 1957. He was a CCD teacher for 15 years for high school Students at St. Agnes Church in addition to being a Lector for 45 years and Eucharistic Minister. He also served his community as a Fowlerville Board of Education member for 8 years, Village of Fowlerville Council trustee for 15 years, and was currently serving on the Planning Commission and had been doing so for 10 years.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Pipoly) Stock of 64 years, daughter Barbara (Mike) Hart, son, Michael J. (Cris) Stock, grandchildren: Adam Stock, Emily (Nathan) Dumminger, Mia Stock, Dr. Katherine (Glen) Hartman, and Michelle Hart, and great grandson, Lucas Michael Hartman. He is also survived by one brother, David “Tom” (Edna) Stock of McColl, South Carolina and many nieces and nephews.

Mike was an avid outdoorsman, He loved hunting, fishing, and boating. His favorite times were spent outdoors, no matter the season. He loved spending time with his family at his cottage in Indian River.

He was a selfless man that asked for nothing but gave everything. No person was a stranger and he could talk with anyone.

Visitation was held on Wednesday September 21, 2022 from 4 - 8pm with the rosary at 7pm at Herrmann Funeral Home. A funeral mass took place at 11am on Thursday September 22, 2022 with visitation from 10-11am prior to the mass at St. Agnes Parish in Fowlerville, MI
