Harold Lewis Maleitzke
We remember Harold Lewis Maleitzke, who entered into eternal life with God on July 15, 2023. With gratitude and love we say “Until we meet again”.
He was born March 18, 1938, to Clare and Helen Maleitzke, living in Fowlerville his entire life. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fowlerville, remaining an active member there his entire life. Harold was a community leader both within and outside the church, serving as a mentor and teacher of the faith with young people, serving as a scripture reader, and maintaining friendships with folks from all walks of life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and loved his work as a heavy equipment operator at Parsons Construction as well as farming proudly for Jack and Lucy Sherwood at Maple Grove Farms with his co-workers and friends whom he considered family. Weekdays you could find him alongside “the knights of the round table” at Olden Days Cafe, where he will be missed.
Harold maintained a lifelong relationship with his ex-wife Cheryl Chance (Ladoucuer) and her husband Roger. They share three children: Mark (Zella), Doug, (Kim), and Amy Uniacke (Jeremy) who survive. He is also survived by grandchildren: Joshua (Natalie), Caleb, Alayna and Noah, as well as sister Nancy Lowe and half-brother Mike Armstrong. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Gary, his sister Barbara Elwell, and half-brothers Bill Armstrong and Tom Armstrong.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 20 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fowlerville, with visitation one hour before the service. Questions may be directed to St. John's Lutheran, 517-223-9108.
