 Leonard P. Hibbard Sr.

Leonard P. Hibbard Sr., passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Leonard was born on May 2, 1936, in Howell, Michigan to Eric and Ruth (nee Miller) Hibbard.

And on the 8th day, God looked down on his planned paradise and said, "I need a caretaker." So God made a farmer. That is what Leonard loved. Tending the land, taking care of cows, and making his crops grow. He also was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. When he was not working at the Livingston County Road Commission or tending to the farm, he enjoyed watching “Deal or No Deal” or RFD-TV.

Most important to Leonard was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren and celebrating Halloween with hayrides. He loved camping, watching his grandchildren play sports, antique tractors, and attending tractor and steam engine shows.

Beloved husband of Dorothy, whom he married June 14, 1957, in Whitmore Lake. The best and most loving father of Deborah Hill, Leonard “Lenny” Jr. (Sharon), Keith (Debbie), and Richard (Barb).

Dear grandfather of Jessica (Derek) Wisuri, Dallas (Janice) Townsend, Doug Townsend, Rachel Townsend, Elise (Ty) Kutt, LeighAnn (Chris) Paule, Shelby Hibbard, Cameron Hibbard, Connor Hibbard, Clarice (Jacob) Gaines, Zach Hibbard, and Grant Hibbard.

Great-grandfather of Emily (Kyle) Risch, Seth Wisuri, Lucas Wisuri, Ruth Wisuri, Payton Townsend, Wyatt Townsend, the late Evelyn Townsend, Cora Townsend, Tucker Kutt, and Stella Paule.

Beloved brother of Linda Philburn and the late John Hibbard.

Leonard’s family were receiving friends on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Methodist Church, 6686 Oak Grove Road, Howell, Michigan 48855. Interment was to take place in Sanford Cemetery, Howell, Michigan.

Memorial contributions in Leonard’s memory may be made to Oak Grove United Methodist Church.
