Kenneth C. Rennells

Kenneth C. Rennells passed away into the arms of our Lord on Sunday, November 20, 2022, at home in the presence of loved ones.

He was born on February 17, 1939 in Muskegon, MI., the son of Robert and Margaret (Travis) Rennells. Kenneth married the love of his life, Phyllis J. Buckner of Howell, on May 27, 1961.

As an accomplished and hardworking husband, father, brother, friend, and grandfather, Kenneth was a chemist by trade. He began his career at Burdick & Jackson, then to Ott Chemical in Muskegon, where he received two patents. He graduated from Grand Valley State College with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1972. In 1973 he started work at Chem-Trend in Howell, a job that moved his family across the state to Fowlerville. Ken had a distinguished career as a chemist, laboratory manager, Director of Quality Assurance and Operations, and then Vice President-Operations, and was affectionately known as Quality Czar. He retired in 1998 after 25 years of service to the company.

He enjoyed fishing trips with his sons, cousin, and grandsons, golfing, traveling, and playing cribbage and other card games. Ken was so proud of each of his children: Michelle and Daryl Wise (Morrice), Jeffrey and Janet Rennells (Brighton), Kevin and Victoria Rennells (Plymouth), and Kristin and Robert Wright (Jenison).

He loved spending time with all his 11 grandchildren: Jason, Erin, Gregory, Daryl Jr.; Bradley, Rebecca; Courtney, Heather, Ashley; Henry, Dennis, as well as, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and the many friends that he considered an extension of family.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather, two brothers, and by his beloved daughter, Michelle Lynn Wise, in 2014. He set a wonderful example in life and demonstrated a standard of love, values, and tradition that will be carried on by those who will miss him dearly.

The family invites you to make memorial donations in memory of Kenneth to be directed to the Family Impact Center, Fowlerville, MI (www.familyimpactcenters.com), a ministry that was very dear to Ken’s heart. Additionally, memorials may also be given to their church family, St. John Lutheran Church in Fowlerville.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2022 from 2:00 until 5:00 pm at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, MacDonald Chapel, 315 N. Michigan Ave., Howell, MI 48843.
