Londa Kay Horton
Londa Kay Horton, age 71, a lifelong resident of Fowlerville, MI, was called home on May 26, 2022.
Londa was born on May 1, 1951 in Howell to Rollin Lorraine Horton and Rosmond (Bachman) Horton. She was an older sister to Raye Horton and Rollin Lloyd Horton. Londa grew up on the family farm in Fowlerville, MI.
A 1969 graduate of Fowlerville High School, she was a part of the percussion section in the school band and also took up the piano. Her love of animals drew her to 4-H which later led to her becoming a 4-H leader with the Northern Neighbors Club in adulthood.
Londa was an advocate for continuous education and earned numerous degrees in her lifetime. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Anthropology from Western Michigan University. She attended Michigan State University and received a Bachelor of Arts Multiple Disciplinary Social Science and Masters in Education Psychology. She also received a Master of Arts at Central Michigan University in Industrial/Organizational Development. During her time at Michigan State she studied abroad in Valbonne, France.
Londa had an extensive career. Following her love of education, she taught history and was a coach at DeWitt High School and Whitmore Lake High School and later with the Michigan Virtual University. For 24 years she was the president of her own company where she was an instructional designer. Londa also held numerous jobs where she designed training programs and initiatives.
Londa was a lifelong member of the Fowlerville First United Methodist Church where she was a part of the missions team. Inspired by biologist Jane Goodall, she travelled to Uganda to see endangered gorillas. Londa was also a member of of the Conway Township Planning Commission, serving as its secretary for over 13 years.
Londa is a beloved mother, daughter, sister, and aunt. She will be remembered for being hardworking, independent, a dedicated mother and for her involvement in the community.
Londa is preceded in death by her mother Rosmond (Bachman) Horton.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Keelan Horton, beloved father Rollin Horton, sister Raye Horton, niece Sarah Grill, nephew Thomas Grill, brother Rollin Lloyd Horton (Cindy Mackie Horton), nephew Rollin Thomas Horton, nephew Ranier Horton, and niece Mallory Horton, and numerous cousins.
Her celebration of life took place on Friday, June 3, at the Fowlerville United Methodist Church, with vistation held from 11am-Noon and the service at Noon.
