League of Women Voters & Carnegie Library co-hosting diversity forum

In honor of Diversity Month in April, the League of Women Voters-AAA, Brighton/Howell Unit and the Howell Carnegie Library will be co-hosting Nicole Matthews-Creech, President of the Livingston Diversity Council, at the April 6 public forum titled ‘Learning From Our Past to Create a Better Future with the Livingston Diversity Council.’

The on-line event takes place from 7 to 8 p.m.

Livingston County’s past and identity have been inextricably linked with the KKK, white supremacy rallies and cross burnings. While some may say that we are no longer “that” community, issues of racism, heterosexism, ableism and other types of oppression still exist here, as in many communities. This event will include a live Q & A session after the conversation about the goals, programs and initiatives of the LDC and how the community can support these efforts. Registration is required through the Howell Carnegie Library at: www.howelllibrary.libcal.com/event/7573650
