 Luana Mae Sawyer

Luana Mae Sawyer, age 98, of Webberville, Michigan went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 4, 2024. She was born in White Oak Township on July 25, 1926 to Ernest Hill and Nettie Monroe. She grew up in a family with nine siblings and loved spending time with them. She married Tommie L. Sawyer on August 31, 1946. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Luana is survived by her two daughters, Shirley LaPine (Jim) and Luana Fuller (Eddie), son Tom Sawyer (Sherry), two sisters Carole Oesterle and Sharon Harrison, one sister-in-law Connie Monroe, eleven grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren.

Luana was a lifelong Webberville resident and worked for Peoples State Bank and Cal-Gas Propane. She also served as the Leroy Township Treasurer for twenty-eight years. She loved entertaining family and friends and enjoyed travelling throughout the US and abroad. She traveled three times by motorcycle to Alaska with her husband and brothers and sisters.

Preceding her in death were her husband of seventy-three years, Tommie L. Sawyer; her parents, Ernest and Nettie Monroe; four brothers, Lester, Roy, Ernest Hill, and Matthew; three sisters, Evelyn Monroe, Ernestine Branch, and Marion March; and one great grandchild, Caleb Turner.

Visitation was held on Friday, November 8 from 4:00-7:00 PM and again on Saturday, November 9 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Herrmann Funeral Home, 1005 East Grand River, Fowlerville, Michigan. The funeral service was being held on Saturday, November, 9 at 11:00 AM immediately following visitation at the Herrmann Funeral Home. Interment was at the Alchin Cemetery in Webberville immediately following the funeral.

The family would like to thank those that provided the kind and compassionate care Luana received at the Willows in Okemos, Michigan during the past few weeks.
