Congressional candidate to be special guest at Dems’ Pig Roast on Sept. 10
Suzanna Shkreli, the Democratic nominee for 8th District Congress, will be a special guest at a local Democratic Party event next month to raise money for veterans’ groups, the party chair has announced.
Shkreli will attend the Livingston County Democratic Party’s Sept. 10 pig roast at the Howell Nature Center, 1005 Triangle Lake Road, Howell.
“We’re excited to welcome Suzanna into Livingston County once again and we hope many Democrats will take advantage of this chance to come out and meet our congressional nominee,” said Judy Daubenmier.
The pig roast will feature roast pig and all the trimmings. A vegetarian option will be available. Doors will open at noon, with dinner served 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Also included are use of the nature center facilities, a silent auction, and a bonfire.
Tickets are $30 per person or $75 for a family of four, including two adults and two children. Sponsorships for the event are also available at the Gold ($250), Silver ($125), and Bronze ($75) levels. Early sponsors of the event are UAW Region 1-D (Gold) and the Family of Janet Shoemaker (Bronze).
Proceeds from the annual event are shared with two veterans groups – Stiggy’s Dogs, which pairs rescue dogs with veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress, and Women Supporting Women Veterans. Representatives of both organizations will be available to visit with attendees.
“We are pleased to have the chance to help out these organizations once again. Our donations to them over the years have totaled more than $5,000 and we want to add to that again this year,” Daubenmier said.
