Anna Rose Dietrich

   Anna Rose Dietrich, age 88, of Fowlerville, died November 4, 2019. She was born February 18, 1931 in Farmington, Michigan to Michael and Elisa Ferrante.
   She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years Chet, her son Keith, and siblings Adeline, Alice, Michael, Grace, Mary Jo and Dorothy.  Surviving are her daughter Carol (Warren) and son Ken (Mary Jo); grandchildren Kito, Casey, Phil, and Matt, and great-grandson Jaiden.  She is also survived by her brother Tony and many nieces and nephews.
     Anna lived her entire adult life in Fowlerville and was active in the First United Methodist Church of Fowlerville.  Over the years, she generously donated countless hours of her time to many organizations throughout the community.
     A celebration of Anna’s life will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Fowlerville, 201 S. Second St. on Thursday, November 14th.  The family will welcome your memories beginning at 10 a.m., with service at 11 a.m., and a luncheon in the church hall afterwards. Pastor Scott Herald will officiate the funeral service. Her interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in Anna’s memory to your favorite charity.

Father James Lothamer

   Father James Lothamer, PSS, PhD, passed into the warm embrace of eternal love on November 1, 2019 on All Saints Day, at the age of 76.  Born James William Lothamer in Coldwater, MI on November 9, 1942 to John and Helen (Cox) Lothamer, he was the second child of a family of 14 siblings. 
   As a young man, he attended Coldwater St. Charles School before entering St. Charles Seminary in Columbus, Ohio where he received his undergraduate degree. He completed his seminary training at St. John’s Seminary in Plymouth, MI. Prior to his ordination to the priesthood, he joined the Society of St. Sulpice, a French order of priest teachers that conducted higher education for priests and lay ministers throughout the world.
    Fr. Jim was assigned to St. Mary’s College in Baltimore, MD, where he remained for 20 years of his ministry. While in his teaching and administrative duties at St. Mary’s he took a sabbatical to the University of Toronto where he earned doctorate degrees in Theology and Philosophy.
    Returning to Michigan in the early 1990’s, Fr. Lothamer served as Pastor and Intermediate Pastor at the following Churches: St. Joseph, Adrian; St. Agnes, Fowlerville; St. John Student Chapel, East Lansing; St. Mary, Pinckney; St. Mary, Charlotte; St. Ann, Bellevue; St. Mary, Bronson; and St. Mary, Morrice. Each parish brought new friends and relationships that he cherished and maintained. A three-year interim was spent in Menlow Park, CA, as director of a Sulpician Retreat Center for Catholic Priest. 
    A long life of servitude and involvement as a priest, teacher, friend, and family member, Fr. Lothamer led a life focusing on the importance of community, social action, and the mystical love of God. He was always generous with his intellect and resources, and his homilies are noted for the deep and powerful teaching truths that pervaded his texts.
   Among Fr. Lothamer’s loves were company, study, travel and family ancestry. Connecting his American family with their European counterparts through his language skills, he cemented family ties. He delighted in sitting in the French/German countryside sharing conversations and a glass of wine with his European cousins.
    Fr. Jim was well loved by his large family. He knew each person from the oldest to the youngest and, as one nephew shared, “He was always nearby.” Fr. Lothamer’s life journey involved prayer, knowledge and heart. He will be missed by all who benefited from his ministry and presence. 
     Fr. Jim is survived by his sisters: Susanne Colligan, Sharon Harrington, Rose Bonvillain, and Helen Malinowski; his brothers: Peter, Jesse, Timothy, Simon, Joseph, Patrick, Jerry, and Christopher. He was preceded in death by his brother, Jack; and his parents.

   Friends were encouraged to pay tribute to Fr. Jim during the following services. A Rosary was held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019 at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fowlerville, MI. Visitation followed  from 5-7:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service  was held at 7:00 p.m.   A second visitation was held on Friday, November 8, 2019, at the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fowlerville, from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 6:30 p.m. A third visitation was being held on Saturday, November 9, 2019 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bellevue (Fr. Jim’s birthday) with a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment followed the Prayer Service at Riverside Cemetery in Bellevue, MI.  
    If desired, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Lothamer Family Burse of Zambia, checks payable to The Society of St. Sulpice. Cards may be sent to the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fowlerville. Friends and family are asked to share memories of Fr. Silent Auction fundraiser being held at the Webberville Library
    The Friends of the Webberville Library Silent Auction fund-raiser is being held November 12 through November 26—just in time for the coming gift giving season. Original artwork, homemade craft items, themed gift baskets, gift cards, event tickets and services from local businesses will be awarded to the highest bidders.

Blue Notes to offer captivating sounds at Howell Eagles Club next Sunday
    The stirring and captivating sounds of The Blue Notes Dance Band will be drifting over the Howell Eagles Club, located at141 Schroeder Park Drive, on Sunday, Nov. 17, from 3:00 to 7:00pm when the band plays their special blends of various instrumental and vocal selections from their vast and varied repertoire, something for everyone. 
     Requests are always welcome and encouraged. Membership is not a requirement to enjoy all of this fun and fellowship for a mere $5 admission fee. Good food and beverages are also available for purchase.
    This dance will be a special time where family, friends, dancers, other bands and members will join us in remembering and bidding our final farewell to one of our own band members, John Simpson, who passed away earlier this year. We shall forever miss you! Thanks to all of you for your love and support.

All Ages. Bosco is a Therapy Dog-in-Training. Reading to Bosco improves literacy skills, builds fluency, and reading confidence regardless of ability. Bosco’s “Mom” Shelly has been a part of our library community for over 15 years volunteering her time and her other reading therapy dogs.

We are coming to visit residents of Livingston Greene and Glenwood apartments! Starting on Monday November 11th we will be visiting the residents of Livingston Greene and Glenwood every second Monday of the month through the winter. Residents will be able to get a library card; check in & out FDL books, books on CD, and DVDS. We will also help residents access the Axis 360 app and ebooks! Visit us in your common room!

Got a favorite casserole that you want to share with friends? Looking for some new casseroles recipes to warm you up this November? Join us for a casserole tasting and recipe swap at the library. Make a casserole, then bring it and the recipe to the library to share! The library staff will copy all the recipes & you will leave with some new recipes to try at home. Debra Jean Leathem

April 3, 1976 - October 4, 2019

     Debra Jean Leathem, age 43 of Acworth, Georgia (formerly of Webberville, Michigan) peacefully passed away on October, 4, 2019,  at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.  She was born in Lansing, Michigan on April 3, 1976, the daughter of Richard and Erma (Wood) Leathem. She spent most of her adult life as store manager of Bird Watcher Supply Co. in Marietta, Georgia. 
     She is survived by her parents Richard and Erma Leathem of Webberville, her sister, Patricia Leathem of Webberville, brother Steven and wife Karyl Leathem of Lansing and brother Jim Leathem of Webberville.  She is also survived by her grandmother, Hazel (Johnson) Wood of Webberville as well as her aunts, Doris and husband David Reed of Missouri; Nancy and husband Richard Kubiak, Bonnie Wood, Janet Wood, uncles Robert Wood and Tom Budden all of Webberville, aunts Nancy and husband Terry Hueffed and Gracie Taylor of California, and several cousins.   Preceding her in death is her aunt, Mary Budden of Webberville, grandfather, Robert (known as Junior) Wood of Webberville, grandmother, Jean Kroeckel of California, uncle Brian Taylor of California and grandfather, Paul Leathem of Ohio. 
     A “Celebration of Debbie’s Life” will be held on November 9, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at  the Webberville United Methodist Church, 4215 E. Holt Rd., Webberville, MI (corner of South M-52 and Holt Rds.).

William H. Sweet

    William H. Sweet of Webberville, age 71, died on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Sparrow Hospital of Lansing surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral services were held at 1pm Friday, November 1, 2019 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio, with Pastor Nate Kingsley officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Morris City Cemetery. The family received visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 11am until the time of service at 1pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation.      William was born July 19, 1948 in Flint, Michigan to the late William and Catherine (Holloway) Sweet. He was raised in the Mt. Morris area where he also attended school. William married Ellie Williams in Belleville and together they enjoyed 49 years. Mr. Sweet served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He worked for the Detroit Carpenters Union, Local #687 for 25 years before retiring. 
    William was a member of Vantown Community Church in Webberville. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, his orchard, and was known for always having a cup of coffee. William loved to fish and earned his captain’s license to take out his own charter boat. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. William was always there to offer a helping hand to anyone. 
    Surviving are: Wife, Ellie Sweet; Daughter, Jennifer (Eric) Soderberg; Son, Ryan (Krystal) Sweet; 6 grandchildren: Tyler Harrison, Shane Harrison, Alexis Soderberg, Kody Sweet, Logan Sweet, and Lillian Sweet; 1 great grandson, Landon Whaley; Sister, Sharon (Michael) Bois; Many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends.
