The Fowlerville District Library will be closed Saturday, September 3rd-Monday, September 5th to observe Labor Day Weekend. We will reopen Tuesday, September 6th at 9:30am. The Little Free Library is available for your reading needs during this time and any materials to be returned can be placed in the blue drop box. Have a safe holiday!

Now Available at the Fowlerville District Library: Playaways! A Playaway is a single audiobook and an audio player all in one. All you need to listen to your book is a pair of headphones—No CD player required! It can also be listened to in your car by connecting with an AUX cord—this is the same cord we recommended for connecting CD players and mp3 players in newer models of cars that don’t come with a built-in CD player. Enjoy audiobooks in a new and easy way! The Playaways are now out on the shelves for you to check out and enjoy!

Registration begins for From A to Z with Mrs. D Wednesday, September 7th
Kids 2-4 yrs and their adult helper. From A-Z with Mrs. D is a pre-school program, each group meets once a week for the entire fall season. Groups start Tuesday, September 27th and Wednesday, September 28th at 10am and 11am. Spaces are limited and are filled on a first come, first served basis. *Register in person only.

Adult Coloring Event Thursday, September 8th at 7pm
Adults. Join us for a relaxing evening of stress-relieving coloring. Mandala and optical illusion coloring sheets, colored pencils and fine tipped markers will be provided. Light refreshments will be served. *Register in person to attend. Registration began August 25th and includes a refundable $5 cash deposit.

Two New Drop-In Teen Programs! Anime Club and Teen Scene!
Anime Club begins Friday, September 9th at 3-4:30pm (will meet on first Friday of each month after)
Teen Scene begins Friday, September 23rd at 3-4:30pm (will meet on third Friday of each month after)
Teens 6th-12th Grades. There’s a new way to have fun at the library! Stop by the program room for Anime Club and Teen Scene! At Anime Club we will watch some of your favorite anime including Naruto, Pokémon, Fairy Tail,
Avatar: The Last Airbender, and more! All shows have a rating of TV-PG or lower. Then drop in for Teen Scene to participate in fun crafts and gaming. *Drop-in program.

Pokémon Go Safari 2 Wednesday, September 14th at 6:30-8:30pm
All Ages. Back by popular demand, join us at the library for our second Pokémon Go Safari! Once again participants will compete to walk the most kilometers, capture the most Pokémon, and hatch the most eggs! Remember, a smartphone is needed to participate. Come prepared to be active! Feel free to walk or ride a bike. The library will provide water for all participants. You may participate individually or as a family. Kids 12 years old or younger must be accompanied by an adult. If the weather is bad, we will announce the program’s cancellation by 3pm the day of the event. Fowlerville Library Writers: Fall Session Wednesdays at 2:30pm, starts September 28th
Adults. Are you looking for feedback on your writing projects or for some fun exercises to help you grow as a writer? If so, join us for our 8-week fall session of Fowlerville Library Writers. You are invited to bring a 1-2 page sample of your writing for feedback from the group. *Register for the entire series in person. No new entries after the first meeting. Registration begins Wednesday, September 14th.
Stronghold Quartet & The Nelons to perform at Centerpointe Church
Stronghold Quartet invites southern gospel music friends to enjoy The Nelons on Saturday, Sept. 17 at the Centerpointe Church, 415 McCarthy, in Howell at 6:00 p.m. The Nelons are based in Atlanta, Georgia. Group members are: Kelly Nelon Clark, her husband Jason, and their daughters Amber Nelon Thompson and Autumn Clark. The Nelons were inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame earlier this year.
The Nelons were started by Kelly’s father, Rex Nelon in 1977, as a spin-off of the Lefevres. The Lefevres group eventually became the Rex Nelon Singers. Rex Nelon passed away in 2000. Over the years the group has included Karen Peck, Janet Paschal, Charlotte Ritchie, and Jeff Stice. Rex’s daughter Kelly Nelon Clark has been with the group since its inception, while her husband and daughters joined later.
Webberville United Methodist Church to host chicken dinner on Sept. 17
The Webberville United Methodist Church is having its monthly chicken dinner on Saturday, Sept. 17 with oven fried chicken, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, vegetables and biscuits. The meal will include coffee, lemonade, and dessert. The dinner will be served 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are $9 per adult, $4 for children 12 and under, preschoolers eat free.
There will also be an improv performance at 6:30 p.m. These events are an outreach service to the community and proceeds will fund church ministries. Webberville United Methodist Church is located on the corner of Holt Road and M-52.
Derrick Scott Coselman
Derrick Scott Coselman of Fowlerville passed away unexpectedly on August 26, 2016 at the age of 33. Derrick was born on May 19, 1983 in Lansing, Michigan to Mark & Patty (Adair) Coselman. Derrick attended Fowlerville High School and did carpentry work on and off over the years.
Derrick loved music, reading Stephen King novels and listening to talk radio. Derrick was also very passionate about playing his guitar and discussing politics. He also enjoyed just hanging out with his family and friends.
Derrick is survived by his parents: Mark and Patty; siblings: Whitney Coselman of Ypsilanti and Heath Coselman of Fowlerville; Grandmother Sharon (Coselman) Turner and Grandfather Jimmy Adair, both of Fowlerville; nephew Nicholas Adair, niece Kamber Coselman; aunts & uncles: Phyllis (John) Smyth of Webberville, Margaret (John) Adair-Abdoo of Howell, Jessie (Nick) Hath of Webberville, Brenda (Jim) Coselman-Needham of Hamburg, Bobby (Nicole) Coselman of Shaftsburg and Rod (April) Coselman of Lennon; cousins: Tabitha, Sharon, Brandon, Michelle, Jan, Blain, Chloe and Autumn; and special family friend Jenny Vinarski.
He will be missed more than words can say. Derrick’s memory will live on through family and friends and our lives will be forever enriched by his love. To know him was to love him.
Derrick was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Rosie Adair.
Visitation was held on September 1, 2016 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Herrmann Funeral Home in Fowlerville, Michigan. A Celebration of life and a luncheon followed at 1:30 pm at the Webberville Methodist Church in Webberville, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, a GoFund Me account has been set up in the name of “Derrick Coselman Funeral Expenses” to help the family with the unexpected loss of their son.

Fall Fest & other fundraising goes to improve Historic Village at fairgrounds
The Livingston Centre Historic Village continues to make improvements. Bids have been received for the repair of the Pere Marquette Depot. The goal is to have the work completed before winter weather arrives.
The Pere Marquette is a delightful asset to the Village. Built in Howell just south of Grand River Avenue off of Michigan Avenue, it was long an important site in Livingston County: dating from 1872, it provided rail service to and from the County Seat. It was moved to the Fairgrounds in 1996. Currently displayed is a working model train, depicting rural life during the years of the Great Depression and World War II. Repairing the roof will ensure its continuing use inside the Historic Village. This work is possible due to the ongoing fundraising done by volunteers dedicated to the care of the historic buildings. They will continue to sell tickets for the annual raffle at Thrifter Sisters Flea Market on Sept. 9 & 10 and at the Dawn Patrol on Sept. 11; look for their booth to learn about the latest projects.
The Fall Festival, held at the Fowlerville Fairgrounds on Sept. 17, is hosted by Livingston Center Historic Village. Docents will be offering tours of the historic buildings. The annual raffle drawing will be held at 5:00 p.m. Crafters and food/snack vendors will be onsite, as well as local entertainment, kids' games and train rides, Punkin' Chunkin', a roving magician, a storyteller sharing stories all afternoon, and a car show.
Dawn Patrol being held next Sunday at Maple Grove Airport

The 66th Annual Dawn Patrol will be held next Sunday, Sept. 11, at the Maple Grove Airport. The airport is located at the corner of Sherwood and Robb Roads, north of town. Take Fowlerville Road north four miles to Sherwood Road and then turn east and drive one mile to the airport.
Along with the traditional “all you can eat” breakfast and the fly-in of planes, several new events are being offered. Starting off will be an Ecumenical Church Service 6:30 a.m., conducted by area ministers.
Breathers’ Club meeting to be held on Sept. 13 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital
The Breathers’ Club is a community service support group for patients affected by heart and breathing (cardio-pulmonary) diseases and their caregivers, family and friends. Everyone interested in learning how to live a better, fuller life or how to care for those with these conditions is encouraged and welcome to attend.
Meetings are held the 2nd Tuesday of the month at noon (12:00p.m.) in the Community Room at St Joseph Livingston Hospital in Howell. An informational speaker and pertinent topic are featured each month.
Our next Breathers Club is scheduled for Tuesday, Noon: Sept. 13. Our Pulmonary Rehabilitation Therapist is available to assist and answer questions. For recorded meeting information call: (517) 545-6020.
Livingston Acoustic Music Society to gather on Sept. 17 at Fowlerville church
The Livingston Acoustic Music Society (LAMS) Jam Sessions are open to interested musicians, singers and listeners. We include many different instruments, styles of music and levels from beginners to accomplished.
Location: Fowlerville Church of the Nazarene; 8040 Country Corner Dr.; Fowlerville, MI: In the strip mall just south of the I-96 (over pass) bridge on Fowlerville Rd.
