Hundred Acre Wood Festival
We’re celebrating 100 years of that silly old bear! Enjoy crafts and activities for all ages, including making your own honey butter from 11-1pm. Watch a short ongoing documentary about the author and how Pooh came to be, and sit for a spell and listen to the community read aloud of the original Winnie-the-Pooh that goes from noon-4pm. Refreshments will be served.

Wolf/Moose on Isle Royale
This author of a "Michigan Notable Book" entitled DEAD MOOSE ON ISLE ROYALE, Jeffrey Holden, will be here to discuss Isle Royale and its history, the history of the Wolf-Moose Study and results and findings of studies conducted. After his talk, there will be a chance for Q & A. He is bringing a wolf skull! Don't miss this special talk. No signup is needed.

Ojibwemowin with Ozaawi Binesi
Join Ozaawi-Binesi for a welcoming six-week introduction to Ojibwemowin (the Ojibwe language). This beginner-friendly class offers an opportunity to learn foundational Ojibwe words, phrases, pronunciation, and cultural context in a relaxed and supportive setting. Over six weeks, participants will build their vocabulary and confidence while exploring the beauty and meaning of Ojibwemowin. No prior knowledge of Ojibwemowin is required. Come learn, share, and connect through language! Registration is required. Classes are Wed mornings @ 10am beginning November 4. Signups are now open.

American Indian Boarding Schools in Michigan
Reporting for her local newspaper, Odawa Anishinaabe journalist Sierra Biidaaban Nadeau stumbles onto a family's--and a nation's--buried stories. In enrollment records of Michigan boarding schools, she finds the names of ten of her ancestors thrown into the maw of American settler colonialism: Her great-grandfather and his siblings, along with generations before them, were forced to attend Indian boarding schools. Sierra will talk about the history of American Indian boarding schools in Michigan, her family story, and read from her book, What the Ancestors Say: One Journalist's Intimate Investigation into Indian Boarding Schools. Books will be available for purchase. No registration is required.

We are happy to be fine-free, however after a book is 8 weeks overdue, the item will be withdrawn from our system and can no longer be returned. A library lost/replacement fee will be applied to the account. Please return your items on time so that others can enjoy them too.
