‘Music at the Park’ to feature Matthew Ball—The Boogie Woogie Kid with his piano playing and American Songbook
Matthew Ball bills himself at the Boogie Woogie Kid, referring to his style of piano playing, and will be playing selections from the American Songbook.
His performances are offered on You Tube and, as he noted, there have been over 5 million views.
Ball is coming to the Fowlerville Community Park this Tuesday, August 15, as part of the ‘Music at the Park’ Summer Series. The outdoor concert will be held at the Glover Amphitheatre, starting at 7 p.m. and lasting about an hour-and-a-half.
The show will feature New Orleans and the Swing Era favorites, including ‘In the Mood’, ‘Let’s Call the Whole Thing Off’, ‘It had to be You’, ‘When the Saints Go Marchin In’, ‘Basin Street Blues’, and ‘On the Sunny Side of the Street’.
A review from the Nardin Park Concert Series on Ball’s show stated “An absolutely wonderful concert, tremendous virtuosity combined with crowd-pleasing repertoire, our audience loved every minute.”
Ball is a graduate from Oakland University where he studied classical piano and is a lifelong resident of Metro Detroit. He has peformed overseas, in Canada and in 15 states, along with appearing on several television programs in Michigan.
“From the reviews we’ve read and hearing his You Tube performances, Matthew Ball puts on a very entertaining show and we’re looking forward to welcoming him to Fowlerville,” said Dawn Horton, organizer of the local ‘Music at the Park’ Summer Series.
The show is being sponsored by the Rotary Club of Fowlerville. The rain date is Wednesday, August 16th.
