Robert J. Haller (Bob)
We are very sad to announce the death of Robert Jesse Haller of Webberville. Bob died peacefully surrounded by loved ones after a short battle with Parkinson’s disease on Sunday March 12, 2023. He was 87 years old. He was born to Ralph and Martha Haller in Fowlerville, Michigan on Christmas day 1935. He leaves behind his wife of nearly 60 years, Ruth Ann Haller, his two sons Steve and Andy Haller, and his two grandchildren David and Isabella Haller.
In his early life, he lived near Lewiston, Michigan. He worked hard to help his dad to provide for the family through hunting and working at a local golf course. After graduation he chose to go into the Air Force. This is where his love of flying began. While in the Air Force, he met his future wife, Ruth Ann. After the Air Force, Bob started working at GM in Lansing.
Bob married the love of his life Ruth Ann in June of 1963. The two bought property in Webberville where they built their own house and lived until his passing. He pursued his passion for flying and owned multiple planes. Bob and Ruth Ann would fly around Michigan enjoying the open sky.
He also enjoyed camping, travel, and going “Up North” with the family. His interests included car restoration, Civil War history, gardening, and wood carving. After working for GM for 35 years mostly as a fork truck driver, Bob retired in 1996. He continued carving and eventually produced over 200 beautiful works of art. These carvings he gave away to friends and family. This is a testament to his generosity, and legacy that will last for years to come. As the grandchildren arrived in the 2000’s he cherished the Easter egg hunts and tractor rides around his property.
Cheers to a man of many talents and interests with the ambition to make his dreams a reality. Bob will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life for Bob Haller was held for family and close friends at the Kelmscott Chapel in Fowlerville on Sunday March 19, 2023.
