George Grover Whitehead
“Scrump”
George Grover Whitehead was born July 17, 1945, in Lansing, MI. to George W. and Ila R. (Mallett) Whitehead and passed away Thursday, March 30, 2023, at age 77, after a brief illness. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother, uncle and friend and will be truly missed.
Grover was raised in Webberville and graduated from Webberville High School with the class of 1963. He retired from General Motors after 41 years of dedicated service. Grover was an avid golfer, enjoyed hosting karaoke and was a lead singer for several classic rock & roll bands over the years. One of his fondest memories was singing on stage with Chuck Berry at The Dells near Lake Lansing. He was a member of the Webberville Lions Club and St. Mary Church, Williamston.
He is survived by his wife Wilma of 50 years; his sons, Ryan Whitehead and Jared Whitehead (Cindy); daughter, Gina Whitehead (Don); sister Linda Verducci; special niece Kami Jackson (Mike); and many nieces and nephews.
In honor of his wishes, a private family graveside cremation burial is going to take place at the Webberville Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held for him at a later date. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary Church, Williamston or the Webberville Lions Club. Arrangements entrusted to Herrmann Funeral Home.
