Gladys Lucille Sherwood

Gladys, who was most commonly known as Lucy and lovingly known as "Grammy" by her grandchildren, died peacefully in her home on October 21, 2021 at the age of 95, with family around her. A lifelong resident, she was born to Harold and Ruth Klein of Fowlerville on March 6, 1926. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 74 years of marriage, Jack Sherwood, along with her parents, stepmother Lena Rudnicki Klein, sister Waneta Dorrance and her husband Howard both of Fowlerville, brother Donald Klein of Howell and granddaughter Amanda Sherwood of Fowlerville.

Lucy graduated from Fowlerville High School in 1944. After graduation, she started working at the IGA grocery store in Fowlerville, along with helping out on the family farm. In 1945 she married the love of her life, Jack Sherwood. She was well known for baking and cooking large meals for her family, friends and hired help that worked for them throughout the years. Making sure no one walked away hungry.

Lucy was a kind and generous person. Always putting the needs of others above her own.

She is survived by her children: Jacqueline Hunt and Dana (Ellen) Sherwood both of Fowlerville. Grandchildren: Brian (Jackie) Sherwood of Caledonia, MI, Cody (Shannon) Sherwood of Saginaw, MI., Travis (Nichole) Hunt of Fowlerville, and Dylan Hunt of Fowlerville. Great grandchildren: Ayden, Aliana, Chase, Natalie and Wyatt. Sibling: Merlin Klein of Florida.

Vistitation was held on Tuesday, Oct. 26, from 5-8 p.m. at Herrmann Funeral Home of Fowlerville. The funeral took place on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2021 at the funeral home, with the burial following at Benjamin Cemetery in Conway Township.
