Fowlerville to celebrate ‘Christmas in the Ville’ on Saturday, Dec. 2
    All sorts of activities are planned this coming Saturday, Dec. 2, when Fowlerville once again celebrates ‘Christmas in the Ville’. Those activities, organized by the Fowlerville Business Association, range from hot air balloons to a pet parade to the firemen’s chili dinner and are highlighted by the arrival of Santa Claus, the parade through the downtown, and the lighting of the town’s holiday tree.
   The Downtown will be closed to traffic on Grand River and North & South Grand Avenue from 2 to 8 p.m. 

Roberta G. Mack

    Roberta G. Mack, age 93 of Fowlerville passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at Olive Branch in Perry, Michigan. She was born in Byron, Michigan on January 4, 1924, the daughter of George and Hazel (Lobdell) Howard. She was raised by her loving step-father Mervin Rolson. Roberta went to school in Byron where she met Orill L. Mack. They were married on February 8, 1942 and had three children. Roberta was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved family, baking, cooking and working in her flowerbeds. 
     Surviving are her son: Owen (Denise) Mack, son-in-law Wilfried Hamann; grandchildren: Duane (Sarah) Hamann, Deborah (Kevin) Short, Christopher Mack, 7 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and sister, Winifred Corey. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Orill Mack, also her daughters, Jean Ann Hamann and Diana Mack and her twin brother, Wayne Howard. 
     Visitation was held Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral services took place on Wednesday, November 22, at 11:00 a.m. at the Herrmann Funeral Home in Fowlerville, with Rev. Betty Douglass

    Betty Douglass, 90, a long-time resident of Fowlerville, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 17, 2017. 
    Betty was born on January 1, 1927 to Reinhold and Hulda Peterson, who preceded her in death along with her husband, Wendell Douglass, and siblings Arthur Peterson and Viola Swan. 
    She was a 1945 graduate of Dansville High School and most recently a resident of Home Sweet Home in Haslett, Michigan. 
    She is survived by her daughter, Penny (James) Cox of Louisville, Kentucky, her son, Gregory (Mary) Douglass of East Lansing, Michigan, grandchildren: Benjamin Cox, Rachel (Wesley) McDaniel, Kayla (Josh) Warner, and Drew Douglass, great-grandchildren: Sean Cox, Brantley, Cyrus, Addallee and Dawson McDaniel, and Cora Warner, and sisters Nita Church and Rita Lewis. 
    Visitation was held on Sunday, November 19, 2017, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Herrmann Funeral Home, 1005 E. Grand River Avenue, Fowlerville. Funeral services took place on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Diane Greble officiating. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery.

Livingston Dems plan Holiday Party, Gleaners Benefit on Dec. 2
    The holidays are a time for celebration – and remembering others. Livingston County Democrats will do both of those at their annual holiday party potluck on Saturday, Dec.2.
    Local Democrats are invited to the event at the Brighton Lions Community Center, 465 W. Main St., near the railroad tracks in downtown Brighton and behind Buon Gusto Restaurant. The potluck will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
    Attendees are asked to bring a dish to share and a contribution of cash, check, or non-perishable food for Gleaners Community Food Bank, if able. Stained Glass Heart Hanger Workshop - Thursday, December 7th – or – Thursday, December 14th at 7pm
Adults. No experience required for this hands-on workshop taught by Steena, an instructor at Delphi Glass. You will be taught basic stained glass construction including cutting, foiling and soldering from an expert. Create a stunning heart shaped sun catcher with a bevel center. *This craft has two sessions due to the small class size. Each person may sign up for one session only. Register in person to attend. Registration for the 1st session (Dec. 7th) is FULL. Registration for the 2nd session (Dec. 14th) begins November 30th. Registration includes a refundable $5 cash deposit.

Teen Holiday Party - Friday, December 8th at 5-8pm
Teens 6th-12th Grades. Join your friends at the library for a holiday party! We will make holiday crafts, watch a holiday movie, and have all the ingredients to make our own hot-cocoa creations! Pizza and refreshments will be served. *Register in person to attend. Registration is required and includes a 2017-2018 signed Program Permission Form. Registration begins November 17th. Register by December 6th to attend.

Preschool-Adults. Welcome Rooftop Landing to the Fowlerville District Library! Indoors, we will read and have parent-child stations. Outdoors we will visit and pet reindeer! *Participation is limited Register in person to attend. Registration begins November 29th.

Junior High Competitive Cheerleaders are requesting help in bottle drive
   The Fowlerville Junior High Competitive Cheerleaders will be in the neighborhood and at Walmart to pick up your empty cans, coin star slips or cash donations on Saturday, December 2nd between 10am-2pm. You can leave the bottles on your front porch, or you can bring them out when they ring your door bell.  The girls will not be allowed to enter your home for safety reasons. The cheerleaders are trying to raise money to help pay for their competitions this year. Your help is greatly appreciated and thank you for your support!     Questions? Designers can register online for upcoming Runway Repurposed
   Runway Repurposed, the fundraiser that combines the art of fashion design with the creative use of donated clothing and materials, invites designers of all ages and levels of sewing abilities to register now on line at www.grassrootsarts.org .
     Designers are encouraged to register online early to reserve a spot for the 10th annual competition to be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Oak Pointe Country Club in Brighton.
    Those who do not register on line can do so at the clothing and fabric selection on Saturday, January 13 and Monday, January 15, also at Oak Pointe Country Club. At that time, all registered designers can select their choice of donated clothing and fabric to create their own original garment for the competition on February 25, 2018.
     Designer fee is $35 for adults and $20 for students. Details and guidelines are posted online with the registration form at www.grassrootsarts.org. There are six competition categories: Young Beginner (up to age 11); Student (12-18); College Design Student; Adult; Avant Garde; and Advanced. The College Design category is new for 2018. The Advanced Designer category has a $500 cash prize. All competition winners will receive a trophy and prize.
