Elaine Ida (Hoyland) DePue
December 10, 1935 – October 26, 2026
Elaine DePuse passed away peacefully at home with her children around her.
She was the youngest daughter of Thomas and Ila Hoyland, born in Fowlerville Michigan. She had one brother, Lowell Hoyland of Lansing and one sister, Amelia Wright of Williamston. The family later moved to Webberville where she attended school until her father took a job at Consumers Power in Lansing where she attended and graduated from Eastern High School.
As a teen, she cleaned for multiple families in Lansing until she married Albert DePue on April 30, 1955, at the Methodist Church in Lansing. They have 6 children: Denise Schram (Leroy), Diane Challiss (Robert), Bryan DePue (Bonnie), Mark DePue, Dawn Fitchett (Martin), and Michael DePue (Kim). They have 18 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Elaine and Albert spent 70 years living and working in Webberville where Elaine worked as an operator at the first telephone office, then cleaning and managing the Leroy Township Hall and Offices, the Library and Webberville Village Offices. She had also worked for the Ingham County Medical Facility in Okemos. Through the years, she is remembered from multiple events at the hall like Trichem and Artex Bingos, making many crocheted outfits for so many babies, and she loved to dance.
Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, Albert DePue; brother, Lowell Hoyland; son-in-law, Martin Fitchett; son-in-law, Leroy Schram; and grandson, Thomas Ebert.
