The Livingston County Community Alliance (LCCA) meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month from 6-7:30pm at the Livingston County EMS Building (Hartland Room) - 1911 Tooley Road, Howell. This month’s meeting is Jan. 14.
Please join in this community-wide grassroots anti-drug (prescription drugs, marijuana, underage drinking) coalition to reduce and prevent Livingston County youth substance abuse and to support a safe and drug-free lifestyle. American Legion Auxiliary in Pinckney holding Soup Supper Fundraiser
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 419 will host a Soup Supper Fundraiser on Friday, January 17th. The event will be held at Whitewood Rd. in Pinckney from 5-7pm. Cost is $7 per person. Assorted homemade soups, breads and desserts are being served. All proceeds to benefit Auxiliary sponsored programs.
Foster Parent Information Session being held Thursday, Jan. 16 in Howell
Join Livingston County Department of Health and Human Services staff for an informational meeting about becoming a foster parent at 6:30pm on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Livingston County Health Department in Room B—2300 E. Grand River Howell.
If you have ever thought about opening up your family to a child in need, please attend to get information on how to become a foster parent and other ways to help abused and neglected children. We need Livingston County families for all ages and levels of need, but especially for siblings, children with special needs, and teens. All Ages. Bosco is a Therapy Dog-in-Training. Reading to Bosco improves literacy skills, builds fluency, and reading confidence regardless of ability. Bosco’s “Mom” Shelly has been a part of our library community for over 15 years volunteering her time and her other reading therapy dogs.

Adults. Get your sweat on with a fun workout from instructor Kim Griffes. Please remember to bring water and wear comfy clothes. Fowlerville High School & Jr. High Equestrian Team holding meeting
Fowlerville High School and Junior High School Equestrian Team is holding their general meeting at the Fowlerville High School Media Center on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 6:30pm. This is open to anyone interested in joining the team for the upcoming season. It is also open to current 5th graders. Please attend if you are interested.

Euchre Fun Night being held at Webberville Library on Jan. 25
The Friends of the Webberville Library is sponsoring a Euchre Fun Night fund-raiser on Saturday, Jan. 25. Registration at 6:00 p.m. and playing begins 6:30 p.m. at the Webberville Cultural Center. The entry fee is $10 person to play. Prizes will be awarded and there will be a 50/50 drawing. Snacks and beverages will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
Acoustic Café to feature John D. Lamb this Friday, Jan. 17, at Opera House
Acoustic Café is an annual music series held at the historic Howell Opera House that features outstanding Michigan performers and is now celebrating its 12th year.
This year’s series continues on Friday, Jan. 17, with singer/songwriter and Royal Oak native John D. Lamb. John self-describes his genre as folk/Americana or better yet, Great Lakes rock ‘n’ roll.
For 24 years he has directed Lamb’s Retreat for Songwriters at Harbor Springs’ Birchwood Inn. There, he fosters creativity of retreat attendees in a relaxed environment. His own music is complex, full of meaning and intended for more than one listen. He explains that repeated listenings to a song help listeners delve in and build their own picture of what he is describing. Lamb knows that he has only “three minutes to grab somebody’s attention,” so he writes in a way that demands repeated listenings.
Lamb has transformed the art of songwriting into not only a career as a musician but also as a mentor – at his annual Retreat for Songwriters, Lamb brings artists to Harbor Springs every November, hosting nearly 100 people over the course of two weeks.
The Acoustic Café series runs every Friday night from now thru March 6. Doors will open at 7:00 pm and the show will begin at 7:30 pm. Open to the public, the cost is $12.00 at the door, $10.00 for Livingston Arts Council members.
Jeffry Connon Borck
Jeffry Connon Borck passed away at St. Joseph Hospital in Ann Arbor on December 13, 2019. He is survived by his wife, Megan (Hagerty) Borck; his daughter, Jasmine Borck; his step-daughters, Cristen, Loreli and Abby Rose LaFave; his step-son, Justin Rosser; and his two grandsons, Jaxton and Jace Borck.
He is also survived by his parents, Kevin and Naomi Ball; his sisters, Kristyn (Rick) Emery and Carla (Dan) Bentley; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Borck; his uncle, Jeffry Borck; his nephew, Nolan Law; and his mother-in-law, Rose Hagerty.
By request of the family, there will not be a visitation or funeral. Cremation with interment of ashes will be at a later date in the spring.
Jeff was born on June 20, 1976 in Howell, Michigan. He grew up in Fowlerville and graduated in 1994. He married the love of his life, Megan, on December 17, 2016. Jeff loved to read and figure things out. He would get his facts straight before stating an opinion. He was a kind-hearted person who could make you smile just by looking at him. His sense of humor was loved by all who knew him.
He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
Janette Warrington
Janette Warrington, born February 12, 1932 in Flint, Michigan to Wyman H. Moffatt and Francis Smith Moffatt, passed on December 17, 2019. A memorial service will be held January 11 at 1:00 pm at Family Life Wesleyan Church, 3720 Rowley Rd, Williamston, MI 48895. Those desiring may make contributions in Janette's memory to Child Evangelism Fellowship or the charity of your choice.
Janette lived in Flint until she was nine, then moved near Stanton, Michigan. After many twists and turns she finished high school in Stanton in 1950. She married Robert K. Cooper of Hubbardston, Michigan on September 2, 1950. They lived in Arizona for two years and returned to Michigan where they resided many years. She bore a son Stephen RW Cooper in 1954, and adopted a child Ellen Cooper in the mid-60's.
She obtained her real estate license in 1961, and was a realtor until 1971 when Cooper Realty was dissolved. During this ten-year period, she took many courses in Christian education, specializing in children's work throughout Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and Wisconsin by ministering in Vacation Bible Schools, children's camps as well as outreach at The Cedar Way Free Methodist Church where she was a member for many years.
She lost her husband, daughter, and mother in 1971, and her father in the mid-1970's. She married Doctor Willard (Bill) G. Warrington on April 26, 1972. He was a professor and administrator at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan where they resided until Bill retired. She was also a member for ten years at the University United Methodist Church. After marriage, she adopted his children: David, Steven, Douglass (deceased), and Jane Warrington and Bill adopted Stephen C.
Along with her husband, she took care of David Warrington in their home for 27 years following a horrible automobile accident that left him brain injured. This experience triggered her to write three books on brain injury and healthcare: The Humpty Dumpty Syndrome, Caregivers Triumph and Between Clean Sheets through the current publisher Charisma Media. She also served as the vice president of the Michigan Brain Injury Association and was Michigan's representative to the first National Brain Injury Association board meeting.
During this period, she and Bill did much traveling throughout the United States and Europe along with David and Jane. They wintered in Florida where she wrote and directed variety shows in their retirement park. She obtained a bachelor’s degree from The United Bible College, and Master's and Doctorate degrees in Theology and Christian counseling when she was 69.
After moving back to Michigan to be near family, she lost her husband Willard G. Warrington in April 2013 in East Lansing, Michigan. She is preceded in death by two sisters: Marilyn Koerber and Audrey Rogers. She leaves behind her brother: David Moffatt and children: David Warrington, Steven Warrington (Linda), Jane Kowieski (Dan), and Stephen RW Cooper (Bonnie). Her grandchildren: Jason Cooper, Rachel Pletz (Mark), Melissa Cooper (Scott), Rebecca Hicks (Donta’), Robert Cooper (Emily) and Katie Cooper (Matt). They will all remember the lake home in Traverse City where they had much fun. Also, she leaves behind 14 great grandchildren and many cousins.
In her last years she resided in Fowlerville, Michigan near family where she was a member of the Conway Free Methodist Church. She will be missed by family and friends and all who knew her, as well as the many she led to Christ. Arrangements entrusted to Herrmann Funeral Home.
