St. Agnes Catholic Church offering Alpha course, beginning Sept. 13
Jesus Christ is referred to as the Good Shepherd in the Bible (John 10:11) and so, as Christians, we are the sheep that are called, by our baptism, to follow the Shepherd. Are you a baptized Christian who has been away from the Shepherd for some time? Are you feeling a calling to come back to your Christian faith or know someone who is? An ALPHA course is for you or someone you know! Perhaps you were never baptized or taught who Jesus is and are wondering “Why am I here?” Alpha is for you too!
St. Agnes Church in Fowlerville is hosting an Alpha course beginning September 13 at 6:30pm in our Lothamer Parish Center. If you are interested, call the office at 223-8684 or email msheridandre@gmail.com. If you are not sure what you are looking for, just come to the first night and see what it is all about. We begin with dinner at 6:30pm. There is no cost.

Oak Grove United Methodist Women now taking orders for beef pasties
Oak Grove United Methodist Women are making their delicious beef pasties again this fall. We will take orders beginning Tuesday, September 5. To order, call or text Andrea at 810-923-8546, or order by email at denanjust@gmail.com. Please leave your name, phone # & quantity you would like. Cost is $4.50 each. Place your order early - quantities are limited! Proceeds go to support the mission work of the United Methodist Women. Pasty order pick-up is Thursday, September 21, 12-7 p.m. at the Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 6686 Oak Grove Road, Howell (5 miles north of M-59).

Join Beth and thousands of women worldwide on Saturday, September 16, as she shares truth to guide your own journey of faith. This one-day streaming event, which will encourage you to dive deeper into the Word of God, is being held at the Family Impact Wellness Center at 9430 W. Grand River, just west of Fowlerville. Also included are three worship segments led by Travis Cottrell and the praise team. This special opportunity is one you won’t want to miss!

‘Investing for Women’ topic of course being offered at Crossroads UMC
According to one Wall Street firm, nine in ten women will be the sole financial decision maker of their household at some point in their lives. One Wall Street veteran declares Wall Street has failed to help women invest for success. Yet Fidelity reports, "Women are doing better than men and with a lot less risk."
Although enrollment is open to both men and women, this course, "Investing for Women," emphasizes the challenges specifically faced by women to improve investment performance and to enhance the economic security of their lives.
Depending upon interest, topics covered may include: an introduction to investment basics including three key mistakes said to be made by women and including three reasons why women are better investors than men; types of risk; determining personal risk tolerance; determining personal investment objectives; assets (chosen by interest) - stocks, bonds, etfs, mutual funds, real estate; asset allocation and diversification; where to hold assets and with whom, effect of retirement including nine smart retirement strategies for women, rebalancing and ongoing management; individual stock and bond analysis including technical and fundamental approaches; macroeconomics and the economy; how to start and join an investment club.
The course is taught by Norman Obst, MSU Professor Emeritus of Economics. Preregistration required – call 517-655-1466 and leave your name and phone number.
