‘Shoot for Life's’ Annual Shoot for a Cause-Archery Shoot will be held this Thursday, July 8, at the Demmer Center which is located at 4830 E. Jolly Rd. Lansing. Proceeds raised go to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. For more information, visit www.shootforlife.org.

All Ages. Fred is a mature golden retriever therapy dog. Reading to Fred improves literacy skills, builds fluency, and promotes reading confidence regardless of ability. Fred's "Mom," Shelly, has been a part of our library community volunteering her time and sharing her other reading therapy golden retrievers for over ten years. *Drop-ins are welcome!
Adults. Featuring a book and its film adaptation. Movie will begin at 6:30pm, followed by discussion. Movie-style refreshments will be served. *Register in person to participate. Registration begins June 22nd. Books will be given while supplies last.

All Ages. Stop by the Centennial Park pavilion where the library will be holding a free self-defense workshop for all ages, hosted by the students and staff of Real World MMA. Water, hot dogs, and chips will be provided while supplies last. *Drop-in event. Children 12 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Teens 13 years and older must have a signed Program Permission Form or be accompanied by an adult.
Teens 6th-12th Grade. Join us after the Teen Summer Reading Program for movie celebrating inventors! Hang with friends while you enjoy the movie, popcorn, and a beverage. All movies are rated PG.*Seating is limited. Register in person for each movie to attend. If there is still seating available, drops-ins are welcome!
Adults. Join us in welcoming Audrey Geyer to the library for a screening of her documentary about Michigan Native Americans, "Our Fires Still Burn: The Native American Experience." The documentary is 1 hour long and will be followed by a question and answer session with the filmmaker. Refreshments will be served. *Register in person to attend. Registration begins July 6th and includes a refundable $5 cash deposit.

Local Boy Scout Troop going to summer camp from July 16-22
Boy Scout Troop 336 is going to summer camp at Camp Rotary in Clare from July 16-22. Scouts will be working on merit badges, including those for Hiking and Swimming and Rifle Shooting.
The local troop meets at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Monday nights from September to May.

Livingston Habitat for Humanity celebrating its 25th anniversary July 12
Join Livingston County Habitat for Humanity in celebrating its 25th Anniversary on Wednesday, July 12, from 4–6pm. The event will be held at the ReStore, 7198 Grand River Road, Brighton. Staff will be on hand to answer questions regarding the home ownership program as well as the critical home repair and ‘A Brush With Kindness’ programs. Tours will be given of the ReStore, highlighting its recycling efforts in latex paint, scrap metal and keeping building materials and home furnishings from entering a landfill. Livingston Centre Historic Village Society to discuss fair plans at meeting
Plans for the Fowlerville Fair will be the primary topic at the monthly meeting of the Livingston Centre Historic Village Society this Thursday, July 6, at 7:00 p.m. in the Fair Office. The agenda will cover several issues related to scheduling and other necessary tasks.
Volunteers are still needed to assist members at the raffle ticket table under the grandstand near the Open Class Photography display. First prize in the annual raffle is a handcrafted full-size Yo-Yo bedspread, made by local crafter Waneta Dorrance. Second prize is an oversized twin quilt made by local quilter, Diane Finley. Other prizes include a battery charger, a birdfeeder, a Kindle Fire, a family pass to Castaway Play Cafe, and a family pass to Canton Water Park, courtesy of county businesses and members. Tickets will be sold beginning Fair Week and are $1.
The historic buildings will be open each afternoon of the Fair and volunteers are needed to serve as docents (guides who conducts visitors through museum building sharing printed information). No experience is necessary and training is provided as volunteers welcome and host fair guests in three-hour shifts.
