Joan Vogt, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 15, 2026. She was born on Novemebr 17, 1945 to Carl and Doloris “Jean” Van Husen. Her family moved to Holt, Michigan where she graduated from Holt High School with the Class of 1963. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Linda.
Joan met the love of her life, Levi Vogt, while they both worked at Lansing General Hospital, where Joan worked in the Personnel Department. They later married on September 7, 1968, and made their home in Webberville, where they raised their son, Jeff.
Joan’s faith was very important to her. She was a devoted member of Williamston Memorial Lutheran Church, where she volunteered and was a member fo the Pioneer Women. She considered her church friends to be be her extended family and lived her faith through her kindness, service, and love for others.
Joan dedicated many years to caring for children. She volunteered in the Webberville schools for many years and loved helping in the classrooms. She also operated a daycare in her home for many years, becoming a “bonus grandma” to many of the children she cared for.
Joan was an active member of the Webberville Garden Club and generously volunteered with the Webberville FFA. She enjoyed helping during competitions and using her crafting talents to create items to sell at their silent auctions.
Joan was an avid crafter who enjoyed crocheting, quilting, scapbooking, and creating special memories. She had a wonderful fift for turning ordinary moments into treasured keepsakes. She would often cut articles and photographs from the newspaper and use her creativity to create special memory books and laminate articles and pictures for the student she cared so deeply about. She also enjoyed camping and visiting with her friends and neighbors.
Joan will be remembered for her strong faith, generous heart, creativity, and the many lives she touched. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, friend, and “bonus grandma” who gave so much of herself to others.
Joan leaves behind her devoted husband, Levi; her son, Jeff;; her sister, Marcia; and the many family members, friends, church family, and children she loved as her own. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Joan’s membory to Williamston Memorial Lutheran Church, the Webberville Garden Club, or the Webberville FFA.
The family will hold a graveside service on Saturday, October 10, at 2 p.m. at Alchin Farm Cemetery, 4585 Van Orden Road, Webberville. A Celebration of Life is being planned for Tuesday, November 17, at Williamston Memorial Lutheran Church, with visitation at 4 p.m., services at 5 p.m., and dinner at 5:45 p.m.
